Hey everyone! I am looking to lower my car sometime soon, and have so far found this thread to be the most help. I do have a few questions that I haven't seen addressed yet and it seems this thread would be a good place to ask them.
1.) I have been told that if I were to do coilovers, that I would need to do an alignment every time I altered the ride height of the car. Is this true?
2.) What is the general consensus on camber? If you use the Tein Basics or SS's is a camber kit necessary? If so, what is recommended?
3.) How useful of an addition is the adjustability of dampening? Is it worth the extra ~$200 for the SS over the Basics?
4.) I know that Tein has a lot of options for other vehicles (including pillowball mounts), is it worth it to perhaps wait for a more advanced option from Tein or another company? What the heck is a pillowball mount anyway?
Thanks for any insight you can provide. Also, if anyone has any good links on "suspensions for dummies" that would be great!

I'll answer what I know:
1) Yes, this is correct.
2) Camber kit is not really necessary if you don't lower it more than 1".
3) If you won't autocross or race your car, damping adjustability is not necessary. The Basic is stiff enough for normal spirited drive.

From my understanding, pillowball mounts allow you to adjust camber.
One question, how do you adjust dampening on Tein SS (w/o edfc)? Do you have to take off wheels? How difficult is it? Thanks.

If you want a comfy ride go with Tein... otherwise look elsewhere (as far as the Super Streets go). I'd say coilovers are a better investment than a shock/spring combo simply because of the drop, the variable damper control and stuff like that.

Dual rate coild overs are best. Not sure if bilstein makes a PSS9 for the TL, but the dual rate will rode smoother, lower your car and handle much better all at one. The best of all worlds.
Basically there are teo springs one stacked on top of the other. The first spring is very soft, but will fully collapse with a little of wheel travel. Then the second very stiff spring takes over. Since the second spring is very stiff, it handles very well.
