Lowered on STechs and need shocks NOW!! HELP!

I just got some new 19's put on with tein s techs. I went in for service today and found out I had a blown shock on the right side. They want $300 for 1 new shock. NO WAY!

So, I was thinking of going with the KYB GR-2. Saw a set on ebay for around 300. Also read about some Tokico's on AZ but wasn't sure which ones would be right for me?!?! I searched forever and read all about the Koni Yellows but they are too expensive for me at this point. What would be a good alternative that I can get for $250-300 for a set of 4 shocks. And where should I get them? Any links would help.

I was hoping to have a few months on the stock shocks to save up for some koni's but I no longer have that option. PLEASE HELP!! Thanks members!

As of today for the 3g TL you have
1. koni
2. oem
3. tein ss coil over

see if you can get a good deal w/ tim over here http://www.hondacuraworld.com/Merchant2/contact.html for the oem shock

how many miles did you put on the spring?

springs are brand new, just put them on last week with the wheels. the car has 26k miles. i did the wheels right before the service and then found out about the shock after i voided the warranty with the springs... just the luck. oh well, an excuse to buy some shocks.

now, since I really only NEED one FR right shock, and my budget is limited for a few weeks, could i just install one set of koni yellows (which i can afford) on the front wheels, and then when I have the funds to purchase another set (2-4 weeks), put them on the rears? how would it ride? wouldn't it sit funny?? think my leaking shock could take another month if I waited to get all 4 koni's at once? what to do what to do.

I only know the basics when it comes to suspension set ups.... I would think combinig products is not a good idea, But I'm not sure I may be wrong....

Why not just pay for the suspension you want with a credit card for now....thats if you have access to one.....

imo, i would not look for just the cheapest option on a 35K car. If I could not afford quality now, I would just sit the car in my garage for a couple weeks and borrow a family member's car or bum rides until I have the money.

Maybe its just me...

My recommendation would be Koni Yellows, since you have the power to change the damper settings to your driving style. Im guessing it wouldnt hurt to change the front shocks first and the rear shocks later.

I am currently running Tein S-Techs and Konis, all I have to say is the ride is much better than stock in my opinion. If you want to get the front shocks for now, I believe ebay has a seller who sells them.

Your other option is to buy a used shock from someone if your lucky and swap it out for now. Then wait till you have the funds and buy the Konis.

Putting lowered springs stressed out the shocks. The shocks are what keep the springs from oscillating. A shorter spring that has a higher spring rate can easily blow out a shock. That is why you shouldn't change the springs without chaning the shocks.

it's not about putting the cheapest option on my car, it's about using my funds wisely!! I never really see myself needing the adjustability of the konis, which is why I can't warrant spending all that money on them. i don't race my car around and would appreciate a shock that rides smooth and comfortable, over a stiff racing shock.

i found some kyb gr-2's @ www.shockwarehouse.com and the full set was only $280. Ebay sells the koni yellows for $300 just for the front setup!! Anyone have any experience running the kyb's or have any opinions on their quality or how they ride? Comments and suggestions are appreciated. thanks
