usually it is a camber issue or alignment issue when your rear tires are wearing prematurely on the 3G TL....do you have it lowered at all beyond about 1/2 inch? If so...you prob should get a camber kit to compensate and it should help your rear tire wear. As for the check engine light, this should not happen! Take it to the dealer and let them retreive the trouble code from the ECU and see what it says....thats prob the best way to handle that, not knowing what code is being thrown...it is hard to say.

ACURA_TL_04, are you sure it's not your traction control light flashing whenever you take off quickly? I could see someone making that honest mistake if he/she just glances down briefly at the instrument panel while accelerating.

^ Yeah...if it is a yellow exclamation point, that is the VSA flashing. Not check engine. That is normal, when the tires don't get traction.

The rear tire wear is probably due to alignment issues. Or some have noticed abnormal rear tire wear if they go on long trips with weight in the trunk/rear seats. The torque of the car does not affect the wear of the rear wheels (since the TL is FWD) .

Yeah it sounds like your toe is off in the rear. Whenever, you put bigger wheels or tires on a car and or you do anything to the suspension you need to get it aligned.

Exclamation

The Check Engine light may also illuminate if your gas filler cap is not seated or closed correctly. Usualy 3-4 clicks is sufficient. Remove it and put it back on. If that was it it may reset itself after you restart the car a few times.

But best to get that code checked, you cannot be certain!
