Looking for wheel locks that will work

Four of my wheel had been stolen and was sitting on cinder blocks. I am looking to buy a set of wheel locks that will actually work and not the one that the dealer sell because those doesn't protect well. I need to buy wheel locks that will fit 04 TL. Please chime in. I need to buy it as soon as I can. Thank you.

I would say 5 different wheel locks, even the oem. The real issue is bash a socket on and you can remove most wheel locks. You need a lock that won't allow that to happen or make it very noisy.

I have 04 TL, I need gorilla locks that will fit flush. Is it true that the cone shape one doesn't fit? We need the spline one right? Can you please post a link to which gorilla locks you bought for your car? Thanks.

oem/acura wheels require a ball seat lug nut. most aftermarket wheels require a conical seat. check summit racing, amazon, google etc to search for gorilla lug nuts. below is a picture showing the differences. chromes are oem and black is gorilla.

i have the gorillas.

the best kind of lugs/locks to get are ones that leave a very thin opening around the outer edge. that way, thieves have a difficult time bashing a universal socket onto them, because there is nothing to grab onto. these are the ones that usually stick out past the machined holes. or, as hispeed suggested...get a bunch of different lugs/locks on each wheel. thieves are looking for a quick fast way to make a score. if you make it difficult for them, they will become detered and most likely move on in fear of being noticed.

then again, if they want it bad enough...they'll eventually get them if they're experienced assholes.

How about something like this? I used these on my VW GTI way back...they essentiall fill up the entire lug hole so nothing can fit over top.

^^ Um, those are my pics. A slight correction to your info, the chrome lug nut on the left is a Gorilla locking, ball seat. The middle one is OEM, and the black one is a Gorilla locking, conical seat. Anyone that is checking out this thread, do a search for Gorilla lug nuts and you'll see the detailed info I posted in a different thread recently pertaining to this.

the gorilla lug i got are model 38433n. i believe those are the ball seat. for oem wheels i believe that the ball seat are a must. although some conical can work, some may not be flush to the wheel

So the gorilla lug model 38433n is the first one in the pic that you posted? Also they seem a little shorter and smaller than the OEM lugnuts. How long have you have these? Is there a direct link for them? Thanks.

I had them for about 20 months. No issues. As for a link I'm on my phone so might be a little hard to find it. Check out 2k's link, it should have some info in there.

If I was looking for wheel locks for a set of aftermarket wheels, which will be the best choice for wheel lock that will actually work.

Please let me rephrase this, will the first lock in the pic (Gorilla) works with any aftermarket wheels?

You would have to check the base of the wheel. I believe most aftermarket wheels will use the conical seat lug nut (the black one in the pic on the right).

Will the first lock in the picture fit correctly onto the 17 in. 5-spoke OEM wheel? If, so what is the model for that wheel lock? Thank you.

Is each set of these gorilla locks specially made differently from each other? Or if I buy these set of locks and another person buy the same set of locks, will the key be the same or different? I want to ask this because on the Summit Racing website it said the application was universal. I hope the key is different for every set because if not then these locks are useless. Can someone please confirm on this? Thank you.

how many threads you gonna ask the same question in? Yes they are all the same so if you're really that paranoid about it, get something different or find a garage and be done with it.

So I got the gorilla locks, model 38433n. I look through and the outside surface of the box. It doesn't say how much torque these locks. Does anyone know the correct amount of torque for these locks. Is it 75 ft-lb? Can someone please let me know. Thanks.

Use the same torque specs as OEM lug nuts. I can't remember off the top of my head, but I believe it's 80 ft./lb.
