list your tire info

Ok, so I have seen a LOT of threads asking about what tires to get and such (I have created a couple myself)....

I do not think I have seen a thread like this one before, so I am going to start it...

What tire do you use?
What size?
Dedicated summer/winter tires?
How is the ride quality? (quiet? loud? soft? etc etc)
How is the handling?
How does it handle on dry pavement?
How does it handle in rain?
How does it handle in snow/ice?
Would you buy them again?
Do the treads wear away quick? (how long will they last?)
If they were not the OEM tires where did you buy them? How much did you pay?

Currently i'm using the Hankook W300 ICE BEAR for winter....
it's the same spec as original size....235/45/17
in terms of ride quality, it's a tad softer than EL42 and louder ...especially in wet..
it gives a pretty good traction on icy and wet road....not bad for snow tires..
i will recommend ppl to buy it cuz it's cheap and gives a respectable performance....
i bought it from a fd's shop for $900CAN with mounting and balancing...
actually, i could got it cheaper with i order it from tiretrend.com for $750
just my .002 cents!

-Michelin Pilot Sport A/S
-235/45/17
-Summer and Winter, however I'll probably be buying Faulkens this spring if I buy
the 19" Ron Jon Inspyres
-Ride quality is WAY better than the El-42's, much smoother and more quiet.
-Handling seems the same, I don't really remember there being a difference.
-Handles great in the rain
-About to find out about the snow, it's coming down pretty good and I have to go out
-Definitely would buy them again if they last me a while. I have about 5000 miles on them now.
-Cost was $219 a tire; pricey but well worth it.

Currently using the factory Michelins while awaiting my upgrade tires which are currently on backorder. My answers are based on previous experience with a set on my last car, a 2000 VW Passat 4Motion Variant.

What tire do you use? Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3
What size? 245/40/18
Dedicated summer/winter tires? Summer
How is the ride quality? (quiet? loud? soft? etc etc) Quiet (per previous experience)
How is the handling? Great
How does it handle on dry pavement? Sticks like glue
How does it handle in rain? Great
How does it handle in snow/ice? It doesn't
Would you buy them again? This will be my second set
Do the treads wear away quick? (how long will they last?) I got two seasons on my last set (VW Passat 4Motion) and looked like I could get another two easily.
If they were not the OEM tires where did you buy them? How much did you pay? Discount Tire/$224 per

Wow, wish I hadn't gone out. I had to drop my daughter off at home (about 5 miles down the road) and I was spinning out of control. My VSA light was going ape shit. If I stopped at a light, forget it. It was so hard to regain traction it was embarrasing. It did rain all day today so the roads are slick as hell, but I noticed other cars weren't having nearly as much trouble as I was. I'm not exactly blaming this on my tires but that was a scary ass ride.

Stay away from Goodyears- they suck in the rain and will get very noisy within 6,000-8,000 miles...you want a great all-season tire go with Turanza LS-Z... BY FAR THE BEST ALL SEASON TIRE OUT THERE

245 45 17 BFgoodridge Sport the best Z rated tire for the money

An unexpected surprice.

245 fill out the wheel well and look better than the stock 235 45 17 Brigstones Turanzas.

245 45 17 tire size it's the same as the E500 Mercedes Benz.

Wet and dry Handling is amazing
It's also a quieter tire
No vibrations

My .02 Cents worth.

Does this hold true for the High Performance Eagle F1's?

No, everyone I've talked to with Eagle F1's says it's the best handling performance tire in rain they have ever driven on. It will be my choice when my EL-42's are ready to go, which will be soon now that it has gotten cold in Atlanta and they are flat spotting badly.
