Konis raised my car?

So I installed Koni yellows on my car today. Previously I had H&R sport springs on the stock shocks. Rear ride height previous to the Konis the tire was just touching the top of the wheel well. Now it is at least a two finger gap going on back there. I left the adjustment ring where it came. That's supposed to be the same as stock ride height, right? Perches installed with the bowl facing up. I don't think I did anything wrong, but I'm kinda WTF about the ride height change.

Any ideas?

Perch could be upside down .... it's happened before (look up a similar thread by user mmade22). I don't recall which direction the 'bowl' faces.

I thought Koni had 3 positions for the rear perch - top, middle and lower. I had thought, but I'm not sure, that the middle was stock height.

The edges of the bowl should face down, center higher than the edges. There's also the actual perch position.

he could have taken all his shocks/springs off at the same time. and then reinstalled them unaware that he had switched them.

now go take a bath.

I think his point is that some cars have similar front/rear springs. But the TL doesn't...that's for sure. It'd be REALLY hard to screw that up.

If IHC says bowls facing wrong way, or perches set wrong, I'd bet my bottom dollar that's what it is.

Well...in Terp's defense, I helped my buddy with a 99 EK and the springs on THAT car are DEFINITELY very similar front/rear.

Tomato, tomaotoooooooo...I think we all woke up on the wrong side of the bed. OP, any chance of a picture of how you set it. I bet someone would be able to rectify this over the internet for you with just a picture.

His comment was that it can happen...not that it can happen to a TL.
How badly do you need to be right today?!!? Jeez...

We all agree, in the TL, he didn't swap his fronts/rears by accident...and if he did. Then I'd REALLY like some pictures of his new drop.

Doh. I think this may be it. I'm pretty sure I installed them with the high higher as that's how all my spring perches have been on struts I've installed before.

The e-clips on the shock tubes themselves are in the middle where they came from the factory. Crap. This means I have to take off the shocks again. @#$%#$.

Yeah, if middle was oem height then you set perches upside down AND set it to stock height. That would explain it!

If I'm reading the OP correctly he had H&R springs on for a while with stock shocks. I assumed he moved the H&R's to the Koni's; if so, they should have 'settled' already.

Yup. I had the H&R on for a few weeks already. I only ordered the Koni's after discovering one bad shock during the install of the springs.

It was the perches on upside down that was the issue. Redid the koni's this weekend. I'm becoming a pro at this by now. Koni made at least as big a difference in handling as switching springs did in the first place. Front shocks I put on the lower mounting point.

Well, here is the before and after for the H&R springs
https://acurazine.com/forums/showpos...1&postcount=28

I'll snap another pic after the Konis, but the front is a touch lower now. Slight rake going on, but the gap is more even than the previous after pic.
