I want rims, so I made a spreadsheet.

2004 Base A/T Anthracite Metallic.

I am getting the A-Spec kit and A-Spec suspension installed, after which I will consider getting some rims.

I've been lurking on this forum ever since I've had my car, and I've read up/searched on what rims people have and what set-ups they run. Then I used the rim/tire calculator and I've come up with these set-ups for myself.

I know it'll ultimately be my own preference and what I think looks good will not be the same as everyone elses. Nevertheless, I always enjoy everyone's

Whether it's, "xx-mm inset with xxx/xx/xx is perfect", or "x width with xxx/xx/xx will not work and your car with explode", or "that set up won't look any better than stock", or "xx-mm inset is not plush, but yy-mm inset sticks out too much"

I had considered it, but they all more or less look the same and it's not the opinions about the looks that I am after. They've all passed my 'looks' test and have made it on to the specs round. Then those that make it beyond the specs round will be in the cost round.

If you want suggestions, post pics of each wheel . I'm not going to google 5 different wheels.

yes, I wanted to research the weight of these rims; they don't disclose them on their websites

doesn't matter what they look like, just picture your favorite with those numbers and specs.

can we get past the 'Dr. Seuss' reading level, and forget about the pictures and actually read the numbers?

pictures are more fun to look at than numbers though... Good idea on the spreadsheet though, Im in the same boat as you trying to decide what width and offset to go with

These have my Vote...If you want flush fitment..Add 10mm spacers front and 15mm rear..Run 235/40/18 front tires and 245/40/rear tires...If lowered more then 1.5 inches(with spacers) you will have to adjust tire sizes...Good Luck

I did not even consider 9.5" wide, as I had thought that they would be okay, that's awesome. I had ruled out MiRo 398 because 9.5" was their narrowest.

I did just find out that the 18x8.5et35 MiRo 398 is going to be available in May. This changes some things I think.

Oh, I know, but literally most of these wheels look the same.

The differences are, as you know, in the widths-offset-diameter area.

Let me know what spec you're considering and what you concerns are, and what set ups have you ran before

With only an A Spec drop I wouldn't go too aggressive with the width/offset or it'll have way too much poke. Try for the flush look. for example the oem 8" rim with +30 front and +25 rear looks real good. You might go a little bit more aggressive with your setup but not too much more. Go to www.willtheyfit.com and plug in some of those after market wheels to see how they compare to it.

Yea, I've played with the numbers plenty. Definitely want the flush look. And you're saying I can just buy a set of +30 and +25 spacers and run my OEM 8" flush? Winter tires can be stylish too then!

I would like avoid having too much poke by going to wide or using too small of an offset. But that nagging voice in the back of head is saying, "you're spending all of this money on rims, you better not waste it by chickening out and buying a set that is too small and too thin!"

Go 9.5, you wont regret it. 25 and 30mm spacers put extra stress on hub/wheel bearings..

I'm not really suggesting that you have to use spacers unless you want to. What I'm saying is use an 8" wide rim with +30 f and +25 rear offsets as a reference and use that website I linked to compare the wheels you want to it.

Here's what 30/25 looks like.

Nearly positive that gregerst meant to run a specs at 30 and 25 offsets, therefore, 15 and 20mm spacers. That is my exact set up actually, and I am very happy with it.

Edit - he beat me to it.

^^ Thanks. I did forget to mention what size spacers were needed to get to those offsets.

Car looks hot but keep in mind he's only going to be dropped with a-spec. He won't look that flush.

The problem here is you're limited to what wheels look good because your going with the a-spec suspension. You should really just get coil overs then you be more aggressive with width/offsets. But then you also have to prepared to deal with things like rolling your fenders and camber kits...

that OEM set up is nice! it's the 18x8 right? how many inches did you drop.

and yea I knew what you meant, get the OEM et45 to 30/25 by using spacers.

That is man, there is apart of me that is definitely nagging me to just go big, but like Gregerst said:

I had debated over Tein and Neuspeed, but still ultimately went with the A-Spec, just because it's easiest.

I don't even want to take off the wheels to adjust the settings, let alone tinker with it, and not to mention getting it re-aligned. There's no way I'd be prepared to deal with fender rolling and camber kits. I maybe only 30 years-old, but I act like I am 60.

Those type-s wheels are 17x8 with 255/40 tires the car was dropped about 2" iirc.
Edit: fenders were rolled but no camber kits necessary. With 235/45 tires probably get away without rolling.

Then I saw that Miro 398 which is only available at 9.5" and 10.5" is going to have the 8.5" available in Apr/May, AND it's on sale right now.

That wheel just got added to the list.

But then it's between the black or silver, no gunmetal.

Although, the black and anthracite combo can potentially look like this:

255? I saw that there was a thread touting the merits of 255 tires... But we'll be just getting off topic.

Are you running winter tires there, or all-seasons? I've have the all-seasons on my stock wheels (continental dws) here in Michigan, I've never had dedicated winter tires before...

done, well there's still tires.

Selection:

18x8.5, 35mm, estimated delivery in May

Thanks all.

How many of you run an alignment when switching between wheels? (e.g. summer to winter and vice versa would be 2 alignments a year)

p.s. loving the a-spec suspension so far.

Nice. Those should look good with the A-spec drop.
I get an alignment whenever I make any change to suspension, wheels or tires.
