I want my rims to tuck!!!

I bought some Volk Progressive ME's 19x8.5 29 offset. They'll be in here next week, but I was wondering if these will tuck?!?! I did get Tein SS which will come in the same day. Like this beast...

I have a TEIN SS already installed on my TL. I am gettin RonJon Inspyres which are 19 * 8.5 with a 42mm offset and RonJon Claims that they will not rub the wells at all even with my 1.6" drop. I guess you need to check the offset, 29mm is very little i have never bought any of these all i here about are 42mm and 50mm Anyone else have offsets lower than 42mm?

Unfortunately for the original poster, I expect that the 29mm offset paired with the 8.5" wide rim will actually prevent the car from being lowered at all (for the most part). My 19x8's are a similar offset (mine is a +30 so they are 1mm "more inward" than the OP's). Mine line up "almost exactly" with the edge of the wheel well. If mine were another 1/2-inch in width (like his), they would actually "stick out" from the wheel well slightly. Therefore, unless the drop creates a VERY dramatic camber, they will rub. Even if the camber effect does allow them to be "tucked", the tires would wearout "almost immeidately". Sorry, but it doesn't look like you are going to get much (if any) drop on your car with 19x8.5/29mm offset wheels. You may want to save your money on the suspension kit until AFTER you have seen the wheels on your car.

The offset is what will make all the difference here. Desper's is 13mm's more towards the inside of the wheel wells so his may actually allow such a drop (but his may also rub). Last point... Why would ANYONE want to scrape thei butt on the pavement like that? It's not like it would help the handling at all. It would just make it look like some 16 year old with too much money had gotten ahold of his daddies car IMHO.

Those are some nice wheels, can't wait to see them on the car!

ed99, how is it driving that low? I have no gap all around and I might need to roll my fenders. Are yours rolled?

You will not be able to tuck a 29 offset. Well not without modding your fenders a great deal which is bound to be very expensive. I had 38 offset 19x8.5 and mine rubbed with the tires I had. Had I bought a slightly smaller tire like ed's car I probably would have had no issues. You will need something in the mid 40's if you are wanting to tuck the wheel like that and you are more than likely going to have to remove your fender liners. After all that you may still have to roll or modify your fenders.

I don't think the lexus is bagged but it could be. The only reason because of the camber in the front and rear. If he were bagged the camber would be way on the negative side. The camber at the rear is pretty good when compared to a lot of the VIP cars rolling around in japan that are just slammed on coilovers. The Lexus also seems to have larger fenders than the TL and there are more than likely no fender liners or if there are they are modded.

Haha it's alright guys it's my opinion, but tucked is good for luxury sedans. Anyways after consulting with another AZ member and reading this post, it can't be tucked.

That's what is refered to as VIP style in Japan. Slammed lux sedans with tucking rim and a shit load of negative camber. Personally I like it. But then again I have been into the JDM scene way before all the bandwagon people. That and buying JDM parts and watching option drift videos since '97. Just my though.

Ha.. yeah and when Options Auto Salon www.optauto.com was the only place to really order JDM parts. I had JDM badges on my '97 Civic back in '97.

Disagree... but hey that's your opinion. I would much rather have had that car over the TL when I had it....

enjoy this vid of VIP style in full swing... http://youtube.com/watch?v=vD63FAkrjdE

You say that now, but i've been in my friends IS250 (meh...same car diff engine) and the interior felt and looked so generic. Exterior is ok....the front is nice, the back is ugly, and the side looks like a corolla IMO.

Only car that i'd take over the TL as of now is the G35 coupe

VIP Style? That's what it's called in JAPAN.. Over here in the states I'm pretty sure thats called: ugly, stupid, a waste of $$, ghetto, ricey, and ridiculous. I personally hate the IS, so dont expect me to ever say anything positive about it - it'll most likely be b/c of bias... but after seeing what "VIP Style" looks like on the TSX, a car I like, I know I def. don't like it... The rims and the ridiculosly flamboyant spoiler ruin it. Oh yeah - and I hate when I see an Acura w/ a Honda badge... that's just dumb.

That's what I consider ricey.

^ew. The Eclipse is about the only one that looks relatively normal. WTF is with the cardboard body and the 15 foot spoilers. I've seen my share of ricey cars but that is a shame. I got a real laugh @ the pic with the "TVs." Still don't like VIP Style though... lol but i'll take that IS over any of those ricers... and thats saying a LOT (I hate the IS mucho!)

Edit: I just noticed on the black Accord with the flame job, ACCORD is spelled wrong. How dumb do you have to be??

LOL... coming from the person that has riced out his ride with:

Tinted headlights
Red/Blue Strobes
Perfomachip
Blue LED lights from T.T.
Chrome Grill Inserts
Door handle chrome accents

Oh BTW don't look at anything on your car because it all says honda. Acura and Lexus are just names stuck to the upper scaled Honda's and Toyota's to appeal to snobby americans that want to have the best of whatever.

When you call something rice make sure it is what you are calling it. If you had just said I don't like it. Then that's fine. Move along. Not everyone has to like it which is fine. However, you could have stopped while you were ahead.

Oh I forgot something.... having an Aspec badge on your car could also be considered rice especially since you only have the body kit. Aspec by the hardcore members here refers to the entire package meaning wheels, most importantly suspension, brake pads and then last the body kit.

Lucky you, I had to roll my fenders... because mine rubbed a lot, so much in fact that it slashed my two front tires, and I had to get new one because the sidewalls on them were gone.

Getting back to the subject, I think a tucked look would look nice on the TL, but I don't think that can be achieve with coilovers, I think you would have to be sitting on airbag to have it tuck like the IS350 or the TSX.

It means that tucking rims makes a luxury car look like it came from a "low rent" district (i.e. Ghetto). Like all slang terms, some twist them around to pretend that Ghetto is actually good. How they justify that is beyond me but they do...

IMHO - slamming cars to the ground is more reminicent of the gangs and "low riders" than it is of anything performance related. Some think that it makes them looks good

cars that are low to the grond have a lower center of gravity, so it does serve a purpose when your heading into those turn

definitely true (and something I'm planning on doing eventually), but eventually it gets to the point where it simply looks absurd and I somehow doubt a car as low as the IS or TSX will out-handle a car with a well-upgraded suspension... IMO- raise those cars maybe an inch or 2 (the TSX even looks almost fine in the front, I just hate how the rear looks)... I say go with ed's setup... that looks sweet as hell, but it's not ostentatious...
