How much torque do you use for your wheels ?

Hi folks !

I'm wondering how much torque do you set up when you tight up your nut's wheel ? Acura recomment 80 pounds (for the spare tire at least, no emntion about the regular wheels), but I find that not enough personnaly.....I'm almost affraid to loose a wheel !

Any idea ?

80 lb-ft is all you need! I hear you on how it "doesn't feel like enough", but that's because you have such a long lever arm with the torque wrench.

So, you're all set with 80!

BTW, most Toyotas and Hondas are between mid 70's and mid 80's. For instance, my Lexus GX requires 83 on 6 bolts.

Many Germans, which use bolts instead of lug nuts, require as much as 110 lb-ft.

I just swapped my wheels, I used 90ft/lbs. That's what I thought the specs where, I guess I was wrong if they say 80. Oh well.

80 lb/ft should be all that you need.

Where do you see this number ? In the TL owner book, for the spare tire at least, they recommend 80.

Anyway, 80 or 85 does'nt make any difference...

LOL! ..and I thought I was being anal by using a torque wrench to begin with.. I'm gonna guess that 80 is OK for the fronts and continue with that.

I doubt very much if it is the wheel bolt torque ..

Maybe this will help

Have your toe in checked like the TSB says ... the bigger the wheel/tire the more it exagerates every flaw.
