help w/ tein basics

i just recently installed basics on my tl and my issue is that the rear's are making noise. I installed the rears just like the fronts, bushing, sleeve and washer going into the right order and seems like every bump the rears make a bump bump sound.

anybody have any ideas what it would be?

take the wheels off and try making sure that the locking sleeve collars are tight. other than that, if you're sure u installed them correctly when u put the top hats on, it sounds like maybe the bolts aren't torqued down tight enough.

Why do you need new links? Just because or is something wrong with yours?

The rsb endlink tightness is the cause of a lot of noise. Make sure you tighten those good. I am pretty sure I overtighten them. Never had a noise issue in dozens of installs.

Make sure all the perches are locked and the spring is sitting iniside the upper mount. Also make sure everything was installed correctly. Did you remember to put the rubber lining in the OEM upper mount back in? Re-tigthen the end link nut.

They are on backorder from Tein. What we normally have people do is place an order so they can reserve a set then ship them out the second they come in.

I kinda have the same problem, a shop installed my tein SS and now my front passenger side is making a bump noise when I hit a bump, not always but sometimes.

You guys might be right about something isn't tighten all the way....
I went back to the installer and he told me my shocks might be BAD.....

I just installed some lowering springs as well and used the stock strut. As soon as I lowered it to the ground there was a slight leak from the front drivers side strut which seems to be holding, but the rear passengers strut is totally blown. my car bounces all over the place when going over uneven surfaces with that rear wheel and makes the typical thumping sound but only on the most severe of bumps. I ordered some tokico blues from Excelerate. I just think that the 43k miles i had on it before lowering it was too much for the stock struts to take.

There is a year warranty on the Tein dampers against manufacturer defect. We are picking up a rebuild unit today. Typically we don't see Tein releasing bad shocks though. In 5 years we've only seen two.

I hate not being local to everyone because a lot of times I find things going on with suspensions that people are unable to find themselves. 9/10 times the problem is not with any product. It's the installation.

Wow thats really weird. I just installed the Eibach Pro-kit on my car about a week or so ago. Its on an 03 TL-S with 83K on stock shocks. So far, the car seems stiffer and no bouncing what so ever.

His case sounds like another questionable installation to be honest. Simply installing springs should not cause a leak or blowing out. Only if the shock shaft was scratched during the install.

Read my points on spring on stock shocks here:
