going staggered

going staggered
I'm currently running 19x8.5 Axis Penta (42 offset???) with 235/35 tires all around on my 2006 acura TL. I'm planning on upgrading to staggered wheels in the back with 19x9.5 3" lip with the same 235-35 tires. I'm also planning on lowering the car between 2.25"-2.75" on Tein Basic coilovers.
My question is, will I experience any rubbing issues? What's a safe offset to go with? I don't plan on rolling the fenders on a fairly brand new car. Any suggestions would be appreciated

I've seen other 3G's on here running that width. However, what I can tell you, is that a 235/35/19 is most likely going to be too skinny for a 9.5" wide rim. You should go with wider tires for that. 235/35/19 size tires are good for 8"-8.5" wide tires.

im currently running some 20" staggard wheels, Sevas S-22 to be exact. The are 20x8.5 in the front and 20x10 in the back, it looks real nice and i have no problem with rubbing, i run a 30 series tire and have had no problems. The guy who sold me the wheels had his lowered about 2 inches or more and he had to roll the rear fenders, his was on 06 as well. Heres a pic of mine, debating whether i should lower it or not. its not a good pic, but i hope it gives you an idea. just my

235 is going to be too small for a 9.5 whee.l I'll use 245 minimum. I had 20x10 with a 255 tire and it was stretched.

Here you can see a 9.5 wheel with 245 tires.

you haven't seen real stretching yet...
235/35 will work on 9.5" wide wheel... but it depends on the brand of tire... I've seen a 235/35 on a 11.5" wide wheel...
if you need REAL info on stretcing tires... go check VIP (Bippu) forums...
I would also suggest you go to Revision Audio in the 808... and ask for help there...

naw man no rubbing issues, a couple of the guys that just replied to this thread are notorious for having oversized lips you will only have to roll the fenders if you gonna roll slammed

nah you shoulnt have any rubbing issues. mines is 9.5 with 225's and theres a decent amount of space between the fender and tire. so 235's shouldnt rub.

I checked with Axis, and found out that their 19x9.5 (5x114.3bolt pattern) wheels only come with an offset of 40mm. I should be able to tucked those in the fender with a 2.75" drop without any rubbing, correct ?

I just found out that my front wheels' offset may be 35, plus 5mm spacers to clear the brakes. Going as low as 2.25", will I rub? BTW, it's on a 2006 TL 6speed transmission with the big brake calipers.

If youre on tein coilovers you can adjust the height so you don't rub, go talk to Samson at Revision, he knows all the fitments and offsets of these cars. Youre on postjunky so just ask him or stop by.

Def go talk to Samson. Then again, what he tells you your options are and what you decide to do are two different things. For example, these people are saying 235 or 245 on 9.5 is too small. It depends on what you are going for, and how much you are willing to stretch. Nokiaboy bought my Works, which like he said is 225 on 9.5. Nice stretch, but not enough to achieve what i was going for. I'm currently running 215/9.5 and 225/10. So yes, go stop by the shop. We always kick it there and everybody there is running setups very similar to me, so you can see the different tire options actually on cars instead of trying to figure it out based on these replies. Good luck.

this may be a hread hijack, but what exactly does this mean? I know rim measuements, but im shit when it comes to tires. i would like to actually understand what the hell yall are talking about. What does it mean when youre running a 245 tire or 255 tire? what does it mean when you have a +45n offset?

235/45-17
The 235, means the tire is 235mm wide.
The 45 means the sidewall height is 45% the width of the tire
The 17, means the diameter of the wheel is 17"
When someone says their offset is +45mm.... That means that the mounting hub of the wheel (the backside of the lug holes), is +45mm from the centerline of the wheel. (If you were to draw an imaginary line down the middle of the wheel, the back of the lugs would be 45mm towards the outside.)

any luck on staggering those axis pentas? I would love to know if they work out or not... if they work out, I might as well go with the stagger set up also since I always want big lips in the rear...

Okay, so I got the staggered 19x9.5 wheels mounted on with 235/35/19 tires. I now have that VIP-Style stretched tire look, which in return, makes my front 235/35/19 tires on 19x8.5 wheels look OUT OF PLACE.
My question is, what tire size should I go with to equalize the look of the rear? I was thinking about going with 225/35/19, but I was told by a shop to go 215/35/19. What do you stretched tire gurus recommend???
