get rid of your EL-42's

After my flat tire and cracked rim last Friday I picked up a new rim today ($292) and 4 new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. These tires are pretty damn expensive (I know people on here have them), cost me $219 per tire but they were definitely worth it. I can't believe how much better the car rides with these vice the EL-42's. The ride is extremely smooth, the handling seems to be way better, and the rattle in my dash dissapeared. Acura needs to get their act together and get rid of those Turanza's. Trust me the new tires make a HUGE difference.

Indeed you will love what Michelin Pilot Sport A/S provides to you. Unfortunately, we may see another model year with EL42...

Enj, when you say the ride is smoother, do you mean that you don't feel the bumps and potholes as much? This would be great IMO.

Honda has NEVER figure out what's what when it comes to tires and wheels. Don't ask me why since I can't figure it out.

I am very close to getting my TL and I have heard so many bad things about the OEM tires. Alot of people have been talking about the Pilot A/S .

If anyone is out there can you comment on these tires? Pirelli PZero Nero M&S ,

I really dont know much about tires but I thought this Pirelli was a good name.

I've had Michelin Tires on several cars, and never had any bubbling with them. In fact, the tires were almost perfect in every regard considering the application. Currently, I'm running 235/45 Pilot Sport PS2's on my 2004 TL, and they are the best tire I've ever owned. Past tires: Pirelli, Dunlop, Michelin, GoodYear, Bridgestone, Yoko. The PS-2's aren't the most sexy looking HPT, but they sure do the job. And...they're QUIET!!!

I've got them and they are awsome. Great grip, great looking and only a bit pricey.

Well you live in Jersey, aka "The Pothole State", of course your going to get bubbles. Bubbles arent caused by what tire you have at all.....Michelins are probably the best tires out there, and the Pilots are EXCELLENT!!

Michelin Tires "The Best Tire?"

According to the measurements, the original factory size tires are 235/45-17. Therefore, not sure if they make the Pilot Sport PS2's in this size or what I need to do. Was wondering what the pro's and con's were of going with a bigger tire. I do not know much about tires. I also would like to know if the Michelin Pilot® Sport A/S tires are able to be put on the 04 TL??

Also, has anyone heard of the: Michelin Pilot Alpin 2 tires? Was wondering if these were any good or better than the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires.. Thanks a lot guys. I posted a link as to where I saw the Pilot Alpin 2 tires at below. Just copy and paste the website, sorry guys. Not sure if these tires are more for snow or not. I looked them up on Michelin's website and they don't have them listed but they have the first generation Alpin tires. Looked more like a snow tire to me.

My FREE new Bridgestone LS-Z's are very nice and SO much better than the EL-42s I had on the TL and TireRack rates them #1 in the Grand Touring category.

Legend 75-here's the link for the Pilot Sport PS2 at Tire Rack http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....omCompare1=yes

Didn't find any more on the Alpin than you did.

You can use various sizes on the TL. Lots of threads here about all the different sizes and how people liked/disliked them. I think the most popular one is 245/40/17.

I cannot fault this thread - maybe the Michelins are better. But I have 2,500 miles on my car with the stock tires and I think people should know that 99.9% of drivers will be quite happy with the car with the stock tires. And yes, I have quite a bit of experience with other tires, and more than once I have replaced brand new tires. I currently have a Corvette with Michelin Pilot Sports, and just got rid of a G35 that I had two different sets of aftermarket tires on - so yes, I am a little picky.

But if you are using the TL as a typical Sports/luxury sedan, you will probably have no problem with the stock tires. Mine vibrate slightly for about the first 2 miles I drive it, but then it goes away completely Maybe in the winter I will feel differently - but I think potential TL buyers should not be put off by the stock tires.

they bubbled because you hit pot holes not because they are inferior tires.

jjsc5,

Thanks for the reassurance. Every time I read posts about how "terrible" the tires are, i get nervous that maybe I'll have to change them when I buy our new TL within the next few weeks. I really don't want to go through the hassle and COST of buying new, decent tires. However, the TL that we drove at the dealer handled great!

Question: How do the EL42s handle in the winter?!?!?! Rain?!?!?!

thanks,
carcar

I got them on my 01 CL. I paid 100 a piece(x4) which includes balancing & mounting.
Since the CL is 16'', 17" maybe a bit more. You can ask them. Great tires, love them too....

The tire guy I use said there is something about the particular rims or the size of tires used on the S-types that make the tires especially easy to bubble. He is buying 50 tires a week and can't keep them in stock. Ultimately, you hit enough potholes while going too fast and you'll get bubbles.
