Function and Form Type 1's or Type 2's?

Hey guys, I'm a college student who is looking for the cheapest and best way to slam my '05 TL... After looking around I found that the f&f type 1's were only $650 which are by far the cheapest. I love how low they can go but have read that out of all the coils available, they are the ones to get problems first. I saw that the type 2's are great and don't have as many problems as well as have a dampening kit. I guess my bottom line question is are the f&f type 1's really that problematic/bad? I just want to be low and have no wheel gap and maybe a little bagged but don't want to bottom out and have other problems where i will end up spending more money in the long run. thanks

if you're going to get the F&F's might as well go for the type 2's.

I'm not too sure if there was a revision, but the type1 shocks didnt fare too well.
The earlier versions kept blowing the shocks.
I'm sure there was a revision on that particular set.

with that being said; if you must go with F&F's go with the type2's.

I must be one of the few lucky people that has F&F type 1 with no problems. I purchased it back in 2011.

The setup I have is before they "revised" them and came out with a type 1 version 2.0. Mine are the first batch before the updated version

No blown shocks and I have put about 40-50k miles on them in the last 3 years.

Everyone else seems to have had problems with theirs in less than 2 years.

If you want a good quality coilover that is reliable, durable, fairly inexpensive, and adjusts ride height get the TEIN Street Basis coilovers:

TEIN Dampers - Street Basis - Excelerate Performance - Japanese and European Performance Specialists!!

If you want to slam your car spend the extra money and get our XLR8 ISC coilovers, which include ride height adjustment, damping adjustment and a 5 year warranty.

ALWAYS take your time and save your money to get the nicest coilover you can. This will make or break (often literally) a car. Especially if you plan to have an aggressive stance.

Have fun changing cylinders on a regular basis. Couldn't dump the FF2s fast enough.

quick question and hoping to verify (not trying to thread jack) but on the TEIN Basis, do you need to use your OEM top hats/strut mount?

well not sure if this thread is still relevant or if you already bought your FF's but I have FF1's and they have worked fine for me the past 2 years. No problems whatsoever with them but the only thing is there's no dampening so when I was about 1 1/2 inches off the floor it was pretty harsh bouncing everywhere. oh btw you can't be bagged without being bagged LOL but anyway. It's up to you, if you're looking to go low then FF will drop yo uto the floor if you want. But if I were you I would save for FF2's or even better BC coils
1) because they're top notch and I hear nothing but good things about them
2) if you ever decide to go bags, running bags on top of those coils would be a good idea also.
