Front Brake Pads & Rotors on 2008 TL-S

Acura just informed me I need to replace the front brake pads and rotors on my 2008 TL-S and they want to charge $820. I called Goodyear and they will charge $450, does anyone know if it matters if I go with Goodyear or should I just stick with Acura - since they said the front brakes are more expensive because the pads are ceramic?? I'm just wondering if Goodyear will use the right pads and rotors but I really don't want to have to spend that much money at Acura. But I also don't want a crappy brake repair! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

You can actually get better parts for even less. Powerslot/STOPTECH slotted rotors and STOPTECH Performance pads are more durable than the OE components and cost less.

Front rotors:

Front pads:

Labor should be 1.5-2 hours max to install front rotors and pads.

Thank you very much for your response. I'm not sure if they will let me supply my own parts but I'll find out!

Thanks,

do your own rotors and pads.... did mine... fronts cross drilled/slotted and new pads shipped to my door from ebay for $220 then installed them myself.... hit me up if you want me to point you in the right direction.... never go to the dealer unless its warranty work.

murpg145 is right. Disk brakes are the easiest brakes to do. Get yourself an Acura service manual at any auto parts store. It will give you the breakdown of the job. You can also do a search online for directions and probably a youtube video. All you need are some basic tools, a jack and stands, and you're all set. But, please, do not attempt this job using the jack which came with your car. You need a good chasis jack and a steel chasis stand to place under the car for support. If you feel it's beyond your skill level, find a local brake shop. They can get quality ceramic pads from their supplier.

Very true ! Take your time with your pad selection and weigh what is important.
If your picky like me, Think about noise, dust, price etc. I got an awesome set up on mine, It really helped while auto X-ing but the sqeal gets annoying sometimes.
