IMO, suspension isn't the only thing that makes a car handle good, the driver plays a big role in that! I've seen a few stock cars whoop up on full blown suspension setups driven by dorks, lol. Also, the stiffer the suspension, the more wear and tear on other components of your car.
I think you helped me with my decision, which is to go with the street comforts.

With having family and friends ride with me I don't want a harsh ride. I also have the Progress RSB and wider UHPAS tires (Michilen Pilot Sport Plus) and think with the coilovers I should have better handling.

Thanks for your input.

No. If I get your deposit tonight I'll do the same price.

Yes the spring pre-load and height adjustments are separate.

I really was thinking of going with street comfort, but I think it's too much of a high risk in NYC. Bottom line is, if the springs are too soft, it's going to have a better chance of bottoming out! And since you can adjust the damper you should be able to choose a soft setting and be ok...

Actually if you read the very first post on page 1 the group buy deposit had to be paid by Jan 31st, but Josh has been nice enough to give a few people the discounted price even though the deadline passed.

Yes you are correct, I did notice that, but he also stated he ordered a few extras for whoever did not make the deadline, Hence is why I made the deposit yesterday. Thanks for the heads up though!

Bro, it's listed on the first post that final payment will be due in 1-2 months, so most likely late March early April...

And anyone who joins now gets the sales price. Once I get a list I will require a deposit of $200 the week after. The final payment will be due the week the parts arrive, which is 1-2 months from the date of order. So let's set a date for the list to be compiled by of Tuesday, January 24th. Deposits of $200 will need to be in by Tuesday, January 31st.

Deposits will need to be made to excelerate@sbcglobal.net via Paypal and you will need to include your vehicle info (year, make, model) and desired spring rates (Street Comfort, Street/Sport or Track/Race). We recommend the Street/Sport. This is what 80-90% of customers order.

Feel free to ask any questions too.

List (please write your SN and whether the deposit has been paid):

1.
2.
3.

etc etc

If you look through the thread there is a review from a 3G TL owner. Keep in mind these coilovers are already popular in other markets. There will be a lot more reviews in a month or so.

True. I did some casual Googling on these coilovers. What I found (thus far) was very impressive.... rave reviews on other forums (STI and EVO forums).

^^ right lol, well if the sport ones are only slightly stiffer than a type s on their softest setting I would assume the comforts are about the same as the base, maybe slightly firmer but thats me just guessing...

He meant you'll get reviews once people get their coilovers, which isn't going to be for a little while. I ordered the street/comfort for my TSX, so I'll be sure to write something up.

I really hope they're not like the base spring rates, that would be a downgrade.

Now you got me worried man. Can anyone confirm if the street comfort spring rates are that of the base 07-08 TL to put my mind at ease please.

^ Please see the thread linked below. Please note my reply in that linked thread.

And for reference, XLR8 Coilovers have the following spring rates -

Street Comfort 10/6
Street/Sport 12/8
Track/Race is 14/10

Coilovers and spring rates ? (click here)

I was referring to the coils on its softest setting, im just guess about it being comparable to a base. No one has gotten them yet, so its hard to tell.

Thanks. From reading that thread it looks like you recommend a stiffer spring rate, most likely the Street/Sport as it has a 12/8 spring rate.

Would you recommend this, or is the street comfort good enough at the highest dampening setting. I understand it's hard to know, as these have yet been shipped.

vp55,

You didn't say what your preference in ride quality was. But, I was reading between the lines by how you phrased your question that you prefer a firmer/stiffer suspension.

If you want a stiffer suspension than oem, I would recommend the 12/8 at least and maybe the 14/10. But for sure, *not* the 10/6.

But if you can't change your order, the 10/6 will probably be stiff enough with the damping set to max stiff. It is hard to know for sure. Like you said, we don't know how stiff the Max Stiff setting is with this brand. If it is like my BC Racing coilovers, I would say that the 10/6 with Max Stiff would make you happy. But "stiff" is a subjective attribute.

Please note that a person does not want to use a coilover set to the fullest stiff setting because this will *maybe* cause the coilover (any brand) to wear out quicker. Plus, when it is set to max stiff, this does not allow you any headroom to stiffen-up the suspension to compensate for wear.

Just read through 30 pages of discussion on a suby forum about these. Customer service as well as build quality seem to be quite impressive on these. Excelerate's info is already on their isc north American website for the Acura division...kudos!

I saw there was also mention of adjustment extenders in the works for these for the rear coils but it looks like someone on the suby forum is currently using BC coilover extenders on his isc's. Perhaps someone or Josh can confirm this would work if the isc extenders are not available at time of install.
