dropping the car yourself?

Has anybody droped the TL themself? I got my Tein Coilovers and im thinking of doing it myself. But I'm wondering how hard it is to drop it myself, for people who have done it before is there any advice?

I watched the install with mine. Involves removing rear seats, lots of tough/tight manuvering...pretty tough. I did my own CAI no problem, but trying springs/coilovers sounds like a bad idea I think.

If you haven't done suspension work before, you probably don't want to learn on your TL.

my Eibach 4044.140's just showed up 10 minutes ago.

REMOVE THE REAR SEATS?? :wtf:

i thought the top mount would in accessible from within the trunk.

that's puts a damper on my efforts to install the rear springs myself. i'll do the fronts 1st and the decide on the rears.

I asked about if taking the rear seats is necessary to install the rear lowering springs and one of the place that carries springs said you don't need to???? So do we have to remove the seat or not???

I am almost certain that you do have to remove the seats to get access to the springs & shocks. EVERYONE who changed out their springs or springs/shocks have stated that they needed to (including my dealer when they installed my A-Spec suspension). But if I missed something in the various exchanges on a-tl.com let me know...

i did the tein install myself. with the right tools it's not that hard. you DO have to remove the rear though. there is no other way to get to the rear upper strut perch. i got a little inside info from a freind of mine who builds the tl here in ohio @ the marysville plant. good luck.

Must be a headache taking the two rear seats out. I am not very fond of taking the seats off b/c it will only make your seat loose (WOn't be fitted like before) it will never look the same. What do you all think!!!

oh i agree with you. i think it's a dumb design, the top mounts should have been accessible from the trunk.

I just installed my Tein Coilovers on myself, taking the rear seat off isn't all that hassle as i thought it would be (with the service manual) of course. I really love the coilovers, my car is currently sitting 2.5" in the front and 2.3 in the rear right now, and it looks so nice. I'll definatly raise it up once my camber kit comes in. Cause it's sitting way too low as of right now, I'll take some pic on Monday and post them.

The rear deck and side panels take as much time as the rear seats - not a big deal with the service manual. And the seats aren't any more 'loose' than that when the factory installed them. Just a few screws, no seal or anything like that, no reason it's any different than original. No way you can look at my car now and tell I ever had the rear seats out.

it's easy, just check 3G Garage for the detailed service manual pic which shows exactly the bolt places and some nice descriptions by the poster.

3G Garage (a.k.a. rets' baby): All the information you need from this forum (it's a sticky)
http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84834

If you search there are some pretty good scanned pages on rear seat removal.
