Dropping the car?

What needs to be done to lower the car? I have never done this before.

Does it mess with the handling of the car? How low do you take it?

As long as its done right it will make the car handle much better. I suggest Comptech springs, thats what I'm going to be doing. They're like 200 something bucks, and all you need is the springs, you don't need new shocks. If you have the money, you can get the A-spec suspension kit if you can find it, but it doesn't lower the car as much, it isn't as stiff, and won't give the car better handling than the Comptech.

If you want to lower your car, it's hard to go wrong with the CT springs. Based on reports I've read here, the TL has a lower and sportier ride with them and no one has been unhappy.

If you want to improve your handling, the biggest problem to solve in the stock suspension is the dampening (shocks) not ride height or spring rates.

I would not lower the TL more than 1.0"...maximum of 1.5" (personal preference), since the car is pretty low already. Your options currently are:
-Comptech/Eibach/H&R springs (which GaleForce mentioned) around $200 and no shocks
-A-Spec springs and shocks (retails around $600-700) plus installation
-Comptech/Eibach/H&R springs and Koni shocks (still in development)
-TEIN Coilovers (springs perched on an adjustable sleeve, so you can drop your car less than one inch, all the way to 2.5 if you wanted to)...it retails around $750, but so far it is still in development.

I'm leaning towards both springs and shocks, because I want stiffer shocks for less rebound in my suspension. I might wait for TEIN to come out, and see how people like it, or just get the A-Spec suspension (neuronbob's review is swaying me).

it was VERY useful, if you had browsed a few threads in the suspension forum, and even did a seach in there for lowering, you would have found all the answers you needed, thus resulting is no need for this thread

I'm with ya. The "do a search first" people really are annoying. It's just as annoying as a newbie asking a question that is old news to most (not all) of us. I say post away and let the mods do their thing if they must. Regular members are not mods and should quit trying act like one.

Are you a mod? Didn't think so. Lighten up and go read the threads that interest you and leave others the hell alone.

asking the same question over and over gets really annoying too.... ESPECIALLY, when its spelled out for you in clear english in a subforum that is about the question being asked...

Nice logo! Go Cowboys! I am a huge fan. I even put a decal on my Acura to show my support.

who are you? who cares? I never said I was a mod, and guess what, a mod will move this to the suspension forum, where it should go in the first place.

I don't you understand the point TBone, I'm not tryin to be a jerk, but the subforums were created to serve a purpose, thats why Soopa made them, because the 3rd gen forum was getting way too messy and overcrowded, by posting the same thing over and over, especially on the wrong forum degrades the quality of the site, I guess you don't care about the quality of the content presented here

It was an honest mistake - I've only been out here a couple months. And you pounce on me for it. I didnt even think to look for it as most of the chatter happens live on the regular discussion. Do you pull in front of speeders on the road too and play policeman to slow them down? My point is it is not your place to get on people where to post. How many times do we see posts come up regarding cleaning the interior etc.

My point is not to make work for the Mods, but sometimes people are excited to get an answer and throw the question out there.

Finally, I totally care about the quality of the content - in this case you mean the organization of the content. We have many threads that have zero content, but that is expected.

My apology goes to the Mods for making more work for them.

Anyway, peace man.
