Comptech Sway Bar
Comptech Sway Bar
Called comptech this morning and spoke to NATE, and asked him if he had any sway bars in stock. and thankfully he did. So i stopped by their warehouse and picked up the swaybar. Dropped my car off at my buddies shop to have it put on and here i am now letting you know i just put on my sway bar. The sway bar is by far the best bang for the buck. 117 dolla's. can't go wrong there!!!

SWEEEEEEET! my buddy installed it with da quickness. he put it on without having to remove the exhaust. I didn't really pay attention to him doing it. But it only took him 15-20 mins to have it put on.

Does the sway bar really improve performance/handling? is it easy to install by myself or do i have to go to some auto mechanic store to get it done? basically, what are the advantages of having that in the car? does it significantly make a difference or a minor difference?
i've never done anything of this sort on my other cars...just done some electrical stuff so with my tl, i want to get my "feet wet" with some of these "minor (small cost)" mechanical stuff, so i'd really appreciate some advice....thanks...

Does it squeal like a pig? The Suspension Techniques one did on my Accord Coupe...even with lots of Teflon tape and Wurth grease. The squeal is the one thing that will keep me from not buying it. So how does it handle?
No squeal at all. It works awesome!!
Also, The install is as easy as it gets. The only thing that takes some work is getting it out around the exhaust and rear knuckle and brakes. Other than that it's cake.

if you have a 6MT, the benefit is slim, if you have an auto, it will benefit you greatly and is a cheap, easy and great handling mod

If you change the rear sway bar, is it necessary/recommended to change the front one? Yesterday when I went to the dealership, the service manager was telling me that if you really want to see a performance improvement, then change both, the front and the rear sway bar....any opinions on that?

I remember reading that comptech had developed a front bar but determined that it made no difference for the handling.... I could be wrong
has anyone done a good write up on the computech bar? wouldnt having a bigger rear bar cause more oversteer? personally i like to keep the back end of the car behind me. maybe im wrong....

Oversteer is not "much" of a concern, due to the heavy front weight bias. The car will plow through turns when really pushed. Changing the rear anti-roll bar to a thicker one, just gives it more neutral characteristics, but the car has no twitchy, oversteer tendencies (although I'm sure people can provoke it to have that).
Also, I don't see a point in switching the front anti-roll bar. That just induces more understeer into the equation. Unless you guys are talking about a thicker strut tower bar?
Ahh yes here we go:

Rear bar only. They told me that they were going to make one for the front also but found that it induced too much understeer. They recommend the stock bar for the front. They also recommend not putting the 6MT front bar on a 5AT (the 6MT bar is larger than that on the 5AT).
