comptech srings and camber kit question.
comptech srings and camber kit question.
i've just come across some comptech springs for my '04. at first, a couple buddies said you would NOT need a camber kit. later after they have had many unevenly worn tires, their saying you only need a camber kit for the rear.
anyone else have comptech 1" lowering springs and only used a camber kit in the rear. a few of my buddies have done this and haven't had any problems so far. just looking for some advise before i do anything else to my car.
thanks in advance.!

well make sure whoever is installing the springs does them correctly.. theres a very specific way to install the upper mount and spring so that it goes back on the car correctly....if it doesnt go on correctly itll throw ur geometry out of wack and your tires will be worn unevenly...trust me I did it and Ive had the experience. you dont need a camber kit if its done correctly. and make sure once its done you get a wheel alignment to the specs of the ASPEC suspension.
In general- you can drop a TL up to 2 inches before camber kit is required in the rear.
There is a system for the fronts, but unless you take the car to the track its not usually needed
good tech info here

he did end up putting a camber kit on his in the rear.
ummmm if you look at the service manual and the procedure to install the springs and the strut you have to align a hole on the strut mount with a point on the strut. if its off by just a little bit it'll cause problems.

what problems? how can you tell if it is not aligned properly?
After you have the strut/spring out, but before you compress the spring to dis-assemble and remove:
https://acurazine.com/forums/ramblings-12/shelf-life-whisky-164323/ (that's a 2G DIY, but nearly identical to the 3G).
1) First of all, take a look at the bottom of the strut. There is one side that has a notch. That must be aligned to the top mounting bracket. If they are not aligned correctly, you'll have a problem.
One of two things will happen if they aren't straight.
a) The bottom strut will sit back on the Fork Bracket, but the top 5 bolts will not fit back into the holes.
or
b) The top five bolts will fit through to the top, and the bottom of the strut will not sit back into the Fork Bracket.
So mark before you remove the spring, mark the notch on the bottom of the strut and make a mark on the Mounting bracket.

thanks bear..... what happened to me the first time i did springs.... unknowingly to the procedure....i didnt line it up and i was forcing it in and to align it Id loosen it up a lil n wiggle it into place....let me tell u dude the repercussions are so bad. Both axles broke, motor mounts, a mount under the rack broke, the rear suspension was shot the alignment would never be straight.....finally i put the aspec on and everything went back to normal.... other than all the broken shit.....that came a fist full of cash later n 2 weeks with out the car.
