Brembo brake pad replacement?

I have only 26,000 kms on my '04 and the pads have only ~25% left with normal driving!! Anyone else experiencing this crappy pad life and what have they replaced the stock pads with?

I am installing the hawk pads as well....probably tonight if I can get them that soon. I'm getting the metal to metal sound as described by some.

I have 33,000km's on my TL.

Seems like a lot of stuff on this car wears out fast ie tires, brake pads. I have 27k miles on mine, and my pads (and tires) are ready for replacement.

this is why companies hesitate to put higher performing parts on cars....

I caught an article a few weeks ago in the Wall Street Journal about how guys like my Dad go and buy a sporty car with performace tires and are stunned that they need to be replaced after 30k.

Yeah, I installed them this weekend. Did you replace your rotors as well? I was going to but couldn't get the parts in time and the metal to metal sound was driving me crazy so I had to do it sooner rather than later.

Anyhow only the pads are changed and they're working out well. Can't say if they're better than the OEM brembo's yet but I'm going out to wash the car now and will monitor to see how much these pads dust compared to the OEM's.

Good job on finding those Hawk pads!

Thanks!!

I didn't replace the rotor because it is still plenty thick...no need to. As far as the performance, I think they match Brembo. As far as squeeling...none at all, much quiter than the Brembo pads.

Glad you like them so far.

oh yeah....that's one thing for sure, there is no squeeling whatsoever. When I rolled my car off the lot in November '03 I had to wait till the following summer before the brembo's settled down and didn't squeek anymore.

Wow, you have one of the first 6MT's as well. I purchased mine on October 31, 2003...around the same time.
