Best Tire to buy for 3rd Gen TL
Which tire is the best tire for the OEM rims. I am just about at 30k original miles, and my oem Potenzas are shot. I am being steered into a couple of different directions. This poll is going to dictate which way I go (i think).
Cost is not a huge factor, but I will not shell out more than $200 per tire.

Actually, I did not see those tests... Nice find.
So it seams the Goodyear is really the best overall tire. I can't have the 4th rated tire for snow traction...

thanks everyone. I am going with the F1s. I almost went with Yoko H4S, but I think the tirerack rating is really what changed my mind. I wanted the potenzas, but I saved money by going with the goodyear, so I am very happy.

Don't forget to fill out the manufacturer's $50 mail-in rebate on the F1's If you ordered from tire rack they will send the you the rebate form to fill out along with the invoice via standard mail.

Then there's the F1 A/S. That's what he's talking about.

I just bought a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 All Seasons today. After reading the opinons on this thread and from various websties, the F1's seem to be a good choice on replacing the Michelins.
I loved my Michelins, but a new tire alone costs about $225-$250 each.
I get them next week and will post my review on the new shoes.

Just bought and mounted a set of Goodyear Eagle F-1 GS-D3's today (on the stock 17 inch wheels...that's a discussion for another day). Anyway, I've only had the chance to drive them a little but initial impressions are: quiet, smooth, grippy, cool-lookin' ( ), and WAY better than the stock Michelin's that I got rid of after 32,000 miles in less than 2 years.

I'm on my second set. Ride is great (very low road noise) but you give up a little performance (cornering at the limit). Since I dont race all the time, they are perfect. Also, they are not directional, so you can do proper rotates.

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on stock rims for me. Costco is running their regular sale 235/45/17's cost me about $200 each with road hazzard, after $60 instant discount. Less than Tire Rack and you can have them now. Great tire for my needs, much better than the factory Michelins. I did get over 40k out of the OEM's.

This post came at a great time. I'm getting ready to replace the tires on my '05 TL but have always used Cooper on my other vehicles and had good luck with them (and also a friend that gets them to me inexpensively). Looking at the Zeon Sport A/S or Zeon 2XS. I'm looking to bridge the gap between practical and sporty. Any comments/suggestions??

And I agree that Falken and Nitto's (for the money) are as good if not better than the Goodyears and Bridgestones out there.

In reality, to me road noise doesnt worry me. I had bridgestone Turanzas as my oem tire, and they were quiet enough for me to be happy, but I think they were pretty loud and would probably bother another driver. My top priorities were: under $200, good treadlife, good wet and dry grip, some snow capability. Based on all the reviews I have read, this tire is the best there is.

Almost bought the H4S, but I worried a bit about the snow traction. Didn't hear good things in the ratings.
I admit too, I wanted the Bridgestone PPs bad, but couldn't justify the price. These were $45 cheaper per tire ($140 vs $185)... Plus, that tire rack review kind of put me on to the Eagles. I havent had good experience with Eagles in the past, but was willing to give them 1 more shot...

Full of water...
this thread will come in handy...i just got back from the dealership for my A1 and my recall, and they said i would need new tires soon
My Pirelli Pzero Nero M&S have about 35k on them, and they said the inside edge was bald on all.
I was seriously thinking about getting snow rims/tires for this winter, but do i stick with an all season during the summer, or switch to a summer tire?
I love my current tires, i just need better in the winter. I know summer tires would be great, but they wont be good in those colder temps and in the occasional fall snow. Plus, summer tires usually run down faster too, correct? or no? Because with two sets of tires, and me putting on 30k+ miles a year, i cant afford to replace these things every year.
So what to do...what to do???

The F1s are mounted, and I already notice a BIG grip difference. Probably a little loud, but thats because they arent even broken in yet...
