I just noticed there was no rebate valid from June 1st - June 6th. If you ordered before or after that you should be okay.

On second ride, the F1s are quieter than my old tires by a long shot. The ride is smoother right now too, because there is so much rubber between the rim and the road (so I think the smoother ride is more a result of having new tires, not just because of the type of tire). The traction is amazing. Tirerack warns that there could be a steering response drop with new tires because of the amount of tread, but I found these tires to be more responsive right away. The only slight hiccup I have experienced (and I just drove 35 miles to work) is that they seem to tramline a bit. I don't like tires that tramline at all. I am hoping it is just because they are new, but so far everything else has actually EXCEEDED my expectation.

I too will have to replace the OE tires on my 06 TL very very soon. I want to up size from the OE 235/45 to 255/45 on my OE rims. I called two shops and one said I could go to a 255/40 and the other 255/45. Do you think the 255/45 will rub?

btw I am leaning towards the Yokohama Advan S.4.

Newb question here: What's the advantage of upsizing the tires?

Larger footprint for cornering, additional sidewall protection for your rims...those are the two I can think of off the top of my head. Others might chime in with additional info.

I had my F1's all seasons mounted on today. The tire shop had a diffucult time mounting the tires on the rims. They said the F1's are diffucult to deal with mounting and balancing them. I got the car up to 60mph and the steering wheel started to vibrate. It is going back tomorrow.

Does any one else who has the F1's deal with the same problem?

Oh yeah, I did get the rebate and the Goodyear store had another promo with four free tickets to Legoland in California. Hopeful they can get these tires mounted on properly and I will take a road trip to San Diego.

I have no vibrations or pulling at all. I had them mounted and balanced at my local Acura dealership and they even threw in a free four wheel alignment which was nice.

I just put my order down at Costco for BFG Gforce Super Sports A/S - hopefully should be here by next wed. they told me 500-550 out the door including repair if i run over a nail or sumtin, i wanted to get F1's , but no one in town carried them and were willing to give a hazard protection for free, so i just went with the super sports since they ended up being cheaper

I got 46k miles on the oem Michelin MXM4's... That said, I replaced mine with the Bridgestone RE960AS's... 18k miles later, I still have 7.5-8/32 tread left. Now that's rockin!

Nope, no problems whatsoever!...When the ones I have go I will definitely be buying new ones! Which should be a long time from now because I change in the winter to the OEM wheels/Michelins setup.

when a shop tells you they cant mount or balance a tire correctly, it;s time to switch shops.

I rock the Bridgestone Potenza's 960's and I was first skeptical about them heard mixed feelings about them. But after rolling on them for awhile they are great tires. I like them.

Strong Replacement Tires for 04 TL

Hi All,

New to the TL Forum. I have a few questions with regard to replacing the tires on my 04 TL. There are many good suggestions out there but I am trying to narrow down my search. I replaced the originals with Toyo's but those tires did not last long (maybe 30K miles) most likely because they were ultra high performance.

I'm going to tell you now I am not an expert when it comes to tires so I am looking for any good advice. My needs are as follows and in order:

1. Wet weather handling
2. Performance handling
3. Longevity

I live in PA and we do get our fair share of rain and snow and I am looking for something that not only handles well in the dry but can also handle well in wet weather. I am also looking for a set that would last me more than 30K miles.

Based on some preliminary web research I have narrowed my search down to the following:

Goodyear Triplehead
Faulken FK-452
General Axclaim UHP

Feedback along with additional possible suggestions is appreciated!!

Thanks!!

I dont have snow experience yet, and I dont know about their long term quality, but the Eagle F1 all seasons are a beast in wet and dry weather, and they are quiet. I am VERY HAPPY with them.

Go with a 255 40 R17.

All right, I got a new set of Eagle F1 AS. The manager told me the previous set of tires were defective. He and another tech mounted a new set on yesterday. No problems with this set.

It rides alot quieter than my Michelin's, however, I have noticed going over bumps it is a still more stiff.

I am glad I got these tires. So far, so good.

Nope! I have the the stock size and the OEM wheels.

Sure you don't have a bent wheel? What size did you go with? Got some of those insane looking 19"ers?
Those are the people complaining.

The OEM Michelin's are quite average in terms of an overall tire. It doesn't grip the road that well, even when the pavement is dry. I don't know how many countless times I accelerated from a complete stop and spun the tires. I did get 40k+ miles on them with still 3 or 4 32nds left so in terms of longevity, it did quite well -- at least for me, since apparently I'm nowhere near an aggressive driver.

I don't think the Triple Tread comes in 235/45/17 or anything close to it, but I could be wrong.
