banging & clankin noises?? is it my teins!? help me!

K. now, i know my brakes are run down, & rotors are warped, and i'm getting rotora's next week.... but... ..now i got a whole OTHER set up problems and noises coming from the front of my car!!

a few weeks ago, my suspension started to sqeak a little when going over potholes... then it became the bumps... now, its squeaks on every little road imperfection and if i hit a bump or pothole or something, i hear this GOD AWFUL sound like something metal is banging around. it honestly sounds like something metal is loose, and when i hit a bump, its bouncing around. almost a metal-spring kinda sound.

what could it be? for some reason, my first guess is my tein basics?? they've only got about 7k on them....

so this, along with my brakes whurring and squeaking, my car sounds horrible. i am on vacation this week from work, so i need to get everything in order and fixed before i go back....

rotoras & s/c are coming real soon. stay tuned.

Make sure everything is tight in there sounds like it's loose or is not completely inside perch, jack your car up and look at everything.

ya know. this is the one part of the car i really dont fck with myself. suspension is too important for me to start digging into. ive jacked it up the other day and looked, the two interlocking "teeth" are locked tight.. the noises got worse in the past few days, so i dont know if it came loose...

what else should i be looking for? i've never cleaned the rods yet. could that be a problem?? i dont really drive in sand or gravel...

oh.. and how could i forget...the ride quality has drastically reduced itself in the past 2 - 3 weeks... and i mean DRASTICALLY. i know its a lowered car... but jeez... my ford explorer w/ 270k on it drove smoother than this!

When you slam it all the way down or close to it , sometimes it can come loose from the upper perch

its only @ 1.7/1.8 inches (out of the box height)

the noise is really getting to me. tomorrow ill pull the wheels and see. its mostly only coming from the front left wheel, which recently had a bubble in the tire....

anybody have some insight or similar problem with tein coilovers??

atleast i know tein offers a lifetime warranty on their products....

It's the top of the struts. I bet your installer left off one of the critical washers...

Dam that sucks buddy!! Just to let you know I had my basic for over 45,000 km's for my car and slammed at more than 2inches. No problems with the suspension whats so ever. Well knock on wood. But you should get it checked to see if the spring is sitting properly and the shocks are still working good. You never know, there always could be a defect or something.

If the strut is in it's perch and everythings looks tight, maybe the strut blew. It should still be covered by Tein... Sounds like the time I was riding in my friend's care... every little thing in the road caused some kinda bump sound.. He blew his front left shock.

the tein coils are pretty damn close to each other when you compair them to the stock ones, especially the upper and lower parts. I'm pretty sure the clanking noise is comming from the coils hitting each other.
what I did was I wrapped extra spring isolators around the coils(top and bottom) and the noise was gone. at least until I found out they were hitting so hard that it ripped the rubber isolator.(I live in Seoul and the roads are not as desirable..) you can also get rubber hoses that fits the size of the coils from a hardware store, cut them in half vertically and tape them onto the coils. It's definitly worth a try...Hope this helps
