Akata Spacers

Hi all,

Im looking to put on some spacers on my 06 TL with stock wheels and factory brembos. Through searching, i found 15MM up front and 20MM in the back is perfect for stockies. Ive seen some people have been using these Akata Spacers. What do you guys think about them?

Also, i plan on getting an alignment + new tires (stock size). Would spacers affect the alignment? For example, would i be able to mount my tires and get an alignment first and then add on these spacers without affecting the alignment?

Here's the spacers:

Love your screen name by the way .

I have the exact same 15 and 20mm Akata's you have linked and have had them on about a year now with any issues. I've had the car inspected at Acura (which I was worried about) and had it aligned multiple times and everything has been good.

Akata is one of those brands that are cheap - and they work.
I was looking to buy Akata spacers but I found a used Ichiba set for cheaper.

The reputable brands include Ichiba and H&R but they cost a lot more.

Spacers come and go often.
People buy them and then upgrade to wheels that don't require spacers and then sell them.
Always some used ones on the market, but Akata is cheap enough to buy brand new.

I've searched before about spacers and alignment, and most of what I read was that the spacers don't affect alignment.

Yeah, no complaints here. They bolted right up - torqued them to spec (I think it was 80 ft/lbs) and haven't messed with them ever since. If not for occasional rubbing on my rear driver side fender, I'd forget they are on there.

I also have the Akata spacers, 15 front 20 rear. No issues what's so ever. As long as you torque them to specs, you will be fine. Yes, they are a cheaper brand but the quality is good and affordable.

I bought a set of 15mm Akata's and they were fine. They had issues with the 10mm, I called before I bought. Said it was a combo of the 10mm and bad batch from supplier. Have since changed suppliers.

Will those spacers fit my base 05 TL too? I've been hesitant to get some because i dont wanna mess with rubbing and eventually have to roll the fenders. I have stock suspension and wheels.

Thanks

Yes. You won't rub on stock suspension and stock wheels with them.

I actually really like the akata spacers better than ichiba or others. The black looks really good. I've never heard any complaints about them and i will probably give them a try this time. I've always used Ichiba and have only had problems with the lugnuts they've included. It seems to me they get rounded off way too easily.

Sorry for the 6-months-too-late response, just found this thread in a search.

For those finding this thread like I did and want to know, spacers don't overtly damage wheel bearings, they covertly damage them, meaning that the further out from center you put your wheel, the more stress there is on the bearing necessarily. On stock wheels these spacers won't immediately kill your bearings, but they'll definitely shorten the life over stock wheel placement, how much depends on driving habits.

Been running the Akata 15/20 for 2 years, remove for winter. Not one problem and fit great on stock 5 spoke.

Anyone have any pics with spacers installed? To get an idea of what stock sized wheel will come out?

I have a few pix, but my car is lowered with -2.5° camber in the rear (natural), so it would look a bit different.

I actually just installed these last night. They look fantastic, and are hidden pretty well since they're black. But upon installing they did seem a bit weird. Hard to explain really. When I'm tightening down the lugs without the spacer they seem to all tighten down the same way, I snug them up, and then use the torque wrench, and they all tighten the same. After installing the spacers, some felt the same, but some of the lugs seemed to have a bit more travel, even after snugging the same, and took a bit more turning to torque down. Probably my imagination .
