255/35/19 8.5 High offset?

Hey,

I've been looking for a set of 19s for a while but to no avail.

I'd prefer to land something around the 245/35/19 mark but i recently came across a set of 255/35/19 that seemed to come off of a new tsx...

I know ive heard and read that 255 is too beefy for the TL, but has anyone ever tried?

I'm running with stock springs so i am not lowered.

No, I mean... the person selling them... took them off of their TSX. I believe it was an 09 or 10 TSX.

I am not sure.... but I was curious if anyone has tried to run with this tire size.

I think I could get a good deal on the rims but I am trying to see if I would need to buy new tires.

The set of rims I am looking at is....The VIP Furious rim...

They are 19" x 8.5 w/ +40 Offset.

I would think the 19 inch "furious" wheels would exaggerate your 4x4 status.

to me, that wouldnt look good at all.
I prefer to drop the car first, then add wheels.

you'll be riding high with like 6 inches of wheel gap.

I don't think 255 is too beefy. I use to have 255 on an RSX. I am planning, if I ever have money, to run 265 on my TL. It's been done before already.

I plan on dropping the car a bit but I am a little concerned because we can get quite a lot of snow in the winter.. so I am unsure if lowering the car would hurt me come winter time.. driving through the snow, etc... especially because I commute like 110KM's a day.

In any case, if I can get the wheels with tires for like $800... it seems like a good deal... but you don't think it would look good uh?

265? Like, 265/35/19? or would you drop to 265/30/19 or less?

Personally I think those wheels are ugly. However, it's your car, and if you want them they'll fit fine. However, if/when you lower the vehicle, you'll need to roll the rear fenders.

My buddy is running 19x8.5 +40 on the right. You can see the rear wheel is "sunk" and not flush with the fender. The more aggressive the better the car looks. But I guess that's just personal preference.

I dont see where he is going to gain wheel gap . If anything a 255 over a 235 is going to fill the wheel opening more ... But it will also raise the car off the ground just a wee bit. And it will mess up the speedo a bit.

its called exaggeration.

to further dissuade him in getting some crappy(IMHO) wheels.

Might be crappy in your opinion , but then you tend to exaggerate , but its his car if he likes them so be it.

To be honest, I haven't really found a set of rims I REALLY liked as yet but I thought they looked iight and for the price with tires seemed like a decent deal.. I'd prefer to find something with a 5 star, double spoked pattern with a lip but those ones didn't seem to bad. I need to look at some more options but I saw a few being sold with that tire size, that's why I asked.

I have a pair of 20's (20"x7.5 +40) with 245/35/20 tires that I can't seem to use so I was trying to find some 19s.

All in all, I appreciate all your opinions and that's why I posted this thread so no worries.

So, from what I am hearing.... 255/35/19 size tires on a 19"x8.4 +40 wheel can fit on the car without any modifications correct?

Yes, as long as you don't modify the suspension, you should be fine

For me I would probably only do 18s and not 19s. But if I were to run 19s I would do 265/35/19 on a 19x9.5 wheel.

we are like minded.
we are more function over form.

the OP would rather sacrifice a little bit of function for more form.

it wont hurt the ride at all, OP.
it's your preference and there's nothing wrong with that.

if it were me tho, I'd wait till I find a set of wheels that I REALLY wanted and not settle.
it takes time to learn and find that perfect set.

be patient!

As long as the wouldnt rub on a non lowered ride, i think that would look nice too... I dont know much when it comes to wheels..

you should study more.
learn as much as you can before you settle on a $800 purchase...

In agreement with these guys. Or if you know anyone with wheels with similar specs, test fit them. Just like a carpenter, measure twice and cut once. You don't want any regrets. For me, I have a lot of studying to so. I want to run a 18x9.5 with 265/40/18. So I need to figure out my offset. I don't want to pull fenders. Rolling is fine though.

Yeah I know. CSB.
