Down Side to Spacers?

Is there any down side or concern with using spacers for a more aggressive offset? Im running +20 right now for my summer wheels and love the aggressive look. When I go back to stock or other wheels for the winter, I want something close to that offset, was thinking about just buying 10mm spacers or something to get me closer to that.

Would there be any down side to this? How does it effect how the wheel sits on the hub?

Anything over @ 5mm would need longer studs or a spacer with wheel studs.

It put more stress on the hub bearing also

spacers will cause no more stress than aftermarket wheels would. As long as they're hubcentric with integrated studs (spacers bolt to hub and wheel bolts to spacer) make sure they're torqued properly.

I ran 20/25mm spacers on stock wheels for a while but took them off, even with a little rolling they still rubbed my fenders with any weight in the back. Not to mention added weight. Didn't notice really any difference in handling tho.

im a little curious as to how spacers can cause more stress on the hub. Lets say a 17x8 +45 rim with a 25mm spacer, vs a 17x8 +20 rim.

Hmmm. Well seeing as how you are already on a pretty aggressive offset for a honda/acura, assuming you would get quality spacers then there is no downside.

Your +20et will already be applying the extra stress spacers would create. And it is minimal so I wouldn't worry.

I also assume your +20et wheels have a similar fitment if not more aggressive than running oem wheels with spacers so rubbing wont be an issue.

What exactly are the current specs of your +20et wheels and the specs of the winter wheels you will be using?

summer wheels are xxr530 18x8.75 +20 with 235/40/18 tires. winter wheels are going to be my stock 06 base wheels which are 17x8 +45 i believe.

Didn't read the post, but he probably doesn't mean that the 20mm offset is any different between a 45mm wheel with a 20mm spacer, or a wheel with 20mm offset, but the difference in offset from factory, either through the use of a spacer, or aggressive wheel offset, puts the center line outward and therefore causes more stress on the hub bearings.
