I haven't read all the other threads but why would you hate a rim???
I have them on the car.. and until they are trashed I will keep them. I tried a 17" 06 Tl 5 spoke silver on the hub and it cleared the brembo's but it looked cheap. I am looking for another rim deal for a set of snow tires.
I would like to go 16" for the snows

I was thinking about getting a set also, because i really dont feel like spending $2,000 on a-spec 18"s, then i can just reuse my tires, but i am a little wiery how they will look also!

if you have the brembos .. you will NOT be able to use 16" rims .... no 16" rim will clear the brembo brakes

That is not so.. I tried on a jobber 16" rim and it fit ok. the shop would have to order a centering ring but no spacer was required. My rough measurement of the car reveals that the brembo's stick out about 7" in radius so any rim with 14" inside diameter has a chance to clear the brembo's assuming the offset is ok. Plus the tirerack sells a winter tire set with some stell rims for the 16".

The rims definitely look better in person then from any pic you will see.
I say stop in a take a look at them and make the call yourself. You will ultimately have to drive them around.

I saw them in person on a white tl type s personally i didnt feel for them, because they looked linda small, looked like the car needed the aspec kit or needed to be lowered more or something, i might go for the wheels also, but am still not sure on my decision.

It's definitely distinctive... I actually plan to use the rims for snow, just need to pick out some tires and have them mounted, probably Blizzaks. I will be picking a summer set of rims, eyeballing a set of Aspec rims right now.

bottom line, if you like them, get them. Looks are purely subjective so as long as you are happy, that's all that matters.
But since you asked for opinions, I hate them.

i woudl be VERY INTERESTED to see pics of these 16" wheels that you got to work
because from everything that has been said here before
no 16" rims clear the brembos ...
please take pics .. and actually confirm you can DRIVE the car with these wheels on
thanx

Believe IT or NOt!!!
Your correct I didn't mount up tires on these rims and test drive them. We didn't even have the correct centering ring but with the rim all the way to the far side of center and mounted flush against the stud plate there was some clearance. So with the ring in the clearance would be more. Is it enough for hard corners ? I think a rim can't flex that much.
The FACT is::
IF I go into the garage and find a wood dowel that just fits but has clearance and then measure the dowel with my calipers I get .630" (5/8") and the dowel also had some clearance. So IT is believeable by just assuming the same inner wall thickness that you could get 1.260" smaller rims on and still clear the brembo's! Or you could get the 16" rims on and have about 1/8" clarance on each side which is what I observed. Looks at it this way if you are a company esp a Japanese Co. do you make a design that will almost fit a 16" rim but doesent by 1/16"? no way would they do that in JApan.

but like i siad .. if you can PROVE they fit .. and can be used for DAILY driving with no issues whatsoever .. ill be stoked as id love a set of 16s for winter
but understand that this issue has been beat to death and if there was any possible way to get 16s to fit .. dont you think it would have been done already ?

Ok so I went to discount tire and we found a 16" rim that will fit the car. IT is only 80$ but doesn't look to bad. I could find out the part number if you want. Its funny but his computer showed two that would fit and listed the type S but the one he had didn't fit. So we just tried all the 5x114's they had. Then I went back to this place that had the momo's and upon closer inspection it didn't fit. I also went to a honda dealer and tried the honda Accord V6 16" rims and no way. But they were going to sell them to me for 400$ and I was stoked.
I still haven't decided to go with this 16" or stock 17x8's or find some 17x7's so I can use 205's or 215's.

This car is fantastic... except for those rims. Sorry... I almost didnt buy the Type-S because I hated the look of the rims. I was convinced to get it and buy aftermarket. Very happy with the change.
The TL is a great looking car, but someone "fell asleep at the wheel" for ok-ing them.
One thing I have learned though, is beauty is differnt to everyone, so if you like them, then its a match!
