Unhappy '08 TLS winter rims

so this is my first winter with my tl-s and i got 17" steelies but when i went to install them they did not clear my front brakes. My question is do i need spacers or a special rim to clear my front breaks?

I don't know about spacers but you need to use special rims (meaning correct offset) on the TL-S since it has brembo's in the front. Try grabbing a set of 04-06 TL wheels on Kijiji, they'll clear for sure & look nice

Consider the MSW Type 12 bright silver rims from TireRack, only $117 each when I bought them last winter:

OP, as you've found out, you can't just get generic steel rims to use for the winter with the TL-S. The brembo brakes in front make it difficult. I'm using Acura rims for my winter wheels so that I don't mess up my Type S rims.

I forgot to mention but if you REALLY want to go steelies, you can use Honda/Acura 17" steelies (the ones on base 07-09 CR-V's) which is what the dealer offers for people who don't wanna spend $$$ on alloy rims

OP another option (and I know this isn't for everybody) that would be the cheapest is paint your stock waffles with a peelable paint like pasti dip or autodip. Use like 8-10 layers, enough that it would protect the factory finish underneath from salt and road grime. Then come next spring, peel it off. I have plasti dipped my stockies twice now (anthracite gray, and now currently copper) and have gotten lots of compliments. It does NOT however protect your wheels from any curb rash...
