Is your 3rd brake light have having issues?

A coworker was behind me and said that my third brake light was inoperable. Strange because it's not very common for an LED bulb or board to crap out at 33k miles. Yes, I know the car is 11 years old, but it is as-new. Anyway, I checked it myself and it was working fine.... I shrugged it off.

Two days ago, a friend was behind me and said that my light was intermittent. I ordered a new brake light switch even though the standard brake lights were working.... It was functioning.... But I have a suspicion that there is a separate circuit within the switch that powers the third light... Anyway, I install the switch which was $11 and all was well.

It wasn't until night fall that I noticed a DRASTIC improvement in the lights brightness. I saw reflection off of the rear deck and side pillars at night. VERY bright

Which may have confirmed my suspicion that the brake light switch was failing.... And not providing the light with full power, causing it to be low lit, flicker or simply not work

So if anyone has a third brake light issue, start with a new $11 switch.... Not a ~$250 LED light/board

cool story, but this ^^

any 3rd brake light problem is solved by the brake light switch.

might be useful for new people who haven't searched before.

Interesting, maybe this is my problem. I took the highmount LED brake light from a 2006 TL at the junkyard and fitted it to my Accord. It worked great for a while but now intermittently it flickers when I brake or sometimes doesn't even work at all.
