LED 'reverse' light bulbs

easy to do... no real need for a DIY lol. you gotta be real careful with some of these LED bulbs...they don't tend to fit very snug into the connector so some adjustments need to be made to the insides of the connector to ensure a tight fit...these are pure white.

Do you have a link to where you purchased the reverse light bulbs and license plate frame bulbs?

Looks good. I'm planning to upgrade some more LED's on both the RDX and TL. Should be some good sales coming up.

I'm currently running VLEDs for all my bulbs. They're local for me though so shipping is 2-3 days.

Thanks for the info, guys. I'm not much of a fan of ordering from Ebay and not knowing when the parts will arrive. Carbon, can you tell me the part# (link) for the parts required for the reverse tail lights and license plate lights for VLED?

For license plate lights I am running:

5K WHITE 4 LED HIGH POWER BULBS 194 168 158 160LM | 1 PAIR - 194 - 168 - 158 LED - Shop Bulb #

For reverse lights I will be ordering:

5K WHITE 15 LED HIGH POWER BULBS 917 918 920 921 922 923 579 500LM | 1 PAIR - 921 LED - Shop Bulb #

The bulbs are high quality and extremely bright. I am also running the 194 5k white bulbs for the door puddle light and they light the ground up big time. I highly recommend them. If you have any issues, VLEDS.com will replace them no questions asked. I prefer the 5k pure white for my wife's 2016 RDX because it looks original and matches the rest of the exterior lighting. Another good site is ijdmtoys.com for lighting. Hope that helps. I should have pictures of the lighting in my build thread in the photo section.

Good Luck!

One of my backup light has burn out and I try to replace it with the LED I have now. But I'm still struggling with taking the old bulb out. Why is it so hard to turn and pull the bulb out? I'm afraid I might have damaged something.

Shouldn't be that difficult. Like mentioned in another post. Use some bent needle nose pliers and it should twist out easily.

On a side note the rest of by LEDs came in from VLEDS.com cyber monday sale. Came in 1 day. Finishing the RDX lighting today. Ordered a pair for rear cargo, dome light and reverse lights. All in 5K. The rest are for my TL and in 6k. Will update my build thread with photos once installed in the photo section.

Just finished swapping out center dome light, rear cargo lights and reverse lights. All together it took me maybe 10 minutes. The reverse lights came out no problem with needle nose pliers and light pressure. You just need to twist them counter clock wise and pull down. Didn't take much effort at all.

I hate the fact that 5k doesn't match with stock map led light. So I end up replacing dome light with 4500k. But then it does not match with rear cargo area as I have 5k there.

Yes I agree. However, all the lights have been converted to 5k now and we leave the door/dome light switch off anyway. It's just there if we need it.

Does anyone have a picture of the trunk light door swap to LED? I feel like the position of the light on the door makes no sense. Can't see anything at night

Yes I swapped mine on the rear hatch to VLEDs 5000k flank bulb. Lights up the whole trunk and ground like crazy. Definitely worth the upgrade. I don't have a night picture unfortunately but I can get one later. I do have a comparison photo between the LED and halogen during the day.

As you can see with the LED you can't even tell were the bulb cover is because of the brightness, unlike the halogen. The bulb type is in the picture if you are interested in the same one.

Thanks for the pictures!! Now I got a good sense of how the light will shine. Maybe I'll see if a 9 board led will fit in there

^^^ that looks freaking amazing.

IN the interim until I find a good set of LEDs for my hatch...I've removed the 921 reverse halogens (replaced by LEDs) and inserted them in the hatch...although regular halogen, wow they are significantly brighter than the weak sauce 168s.

It's super easy.

Take off the cover panels on each side of the tailgate with a flat head screwdriver. The same panels that have the tailgate interior lights. Disconnect the plug from the reverse light bulb. Using your hand or (like many others) use some needle nose pliers and twist counter clockwise. They bulb should twist out. Install new bulb into the socket and do steps in reverse.

Note: I plugged the bulb into the socket and reconnected it to the harness and let it hang. Hoped in the car and put it in reverse. Second push on the push start without foot on the brake and you can move the shifter. Make sure the bulb is working. If not, unplug it and twist it 180 degrees and try again. Then reinstall.

I had a pair of the bulbs pictured by the OP laying around and thought "great now I can use them". Much to my dismay I couldn't get them into the housing. Too large. I guess what I have is slightly different.

Do this!! I did this 2 weeks ago on my wife's 2015 awd tech... easy, quick, inexpensive, and results are very noticeable. Went with VLEDs @ 5000k. No hyperflashing/problems.

I tried a 13 chip T10 LED (local source) which didn't prove to be any better. Also had another member recommend the Philips below.
