Give the exhaust some time to break in. The mufflers need to build up some carbon and it will quiet down some. If its still too loud you can have another resonator put on.

I don't really know an exact number. A few hundred miles should do it I'd think.

i don't get it....you bought a j-pipe, high flow cat, and aftermarket exhaust and expect it to be quiet?

you could put back in your stock cat, that will definitely make it more quiet.

The drone seems to be the nature of the vehicle in that RPM range. The stock exhaust uses a resonator and a mid muffler, then the actual mufflers before exiting at the tail pipes. A similar design is utilized by Comptech and Tanabe and they're quieter.

Some one else posted you have after market J-pipe, and a high flow cat additional to the XLR8 exhaust, is this true?

Putting the stock cat back on would not quiet it down at all. When I added the ATLP J and test pipe to my Excelerate resonated, it actually lessened the drone at highway speeds.

I remember the first and last time I ever considered aftermarket exhaust options on my TL .. my 2k2 TL-S .. bought the Comptech axle-backs... and LOVED the rumble/growl when I started my car... then proceeded to HATE the drone/moan/groan during routine driving .. turned my entry luxury ride into a ricer... hated it.

Exhaust mods are just not for me... perhaps this isn't for the OP either.

Ditto, the drone is the problem, I love the sound of the exhaust on acceleration. The problem is at cruising speed, when the rpms are held low and steady. There is a difference between that drone sound and accelerating off the line, or passing in traffic.

Many manufacturers have figured out a way to have big exhaust sound with minimal drone.
