If you are replacing with new OEM Brembo pads, there should be shims in the box.

Did you buy the car used? If so, somebody replaced the pads and didn't put the shims on. I'm not sure if you can buy them sepearatly from the dealer or not.

had a shop replace my rotors and pads a long time ago......

would it be ok to just throw some grease on the back and put them in without shims? im installing rotora ceramic pads... and slotted and drilled rotors.

the first time i did my brakes i put the pads in without the shims, and everything worked fine. but then i found out that the shims are suppose to be there so i redid it, and put the shims in. to answer your question ... i think it should be fine without the shims, i am really not sure what their purpose is though

Their primary purpose is noise reduction. I doubt you will know they're not there.

RacingBrake pads dont come with shims..
and when asked- their tech support said `If we wanted you to use them we would have included them`

a small amount of caliper grease on the backs where the pistons contact is what you want- enough to encourage easy movement of pads

good idea to flush the brake fluid with the brake job

Can you just reuse the old shims?
