Wondering about this part connected to the air filter
Took my '08 TL-S to a Honda dealer for the 105k service, including changing the air filter, and was surprised to find this part taped up after I picked my car up. At first I was a little mad, but then I noticed from other photos I'd taken that the part was already ripping before I took my car in, and they did give me a bit of a discount. Is this part important to replace, and would the labor cost be cheap?
Common for it to crack, especially when changing air filter. Tape will work temporarily but dust and dirt WILL slowly creep in. They could have told you about it though...
Agreed, they should have told you about the crack; either replace it yourself (it is really easy), or have your favorite service center take care of it; shouldn't cost too much.
A new tube can be had for around $35 bucks. Takes about 15 minutes to change yourself and you don't need to be that mechanically inclined to do so. Do it yourself and save the 1/2 hour in labor the dealer will charge on top of the mark up on the part.
