windshield wipers stopped working

I was driving to work last week when it started raining, when I turned the wipers on, they worked for about thirty seconds and stopped working in the middle of a heavy down pour. Took the car in to the dealership for warranty repair and the service advisor told me he has seen several Tl's with this problem. Just wondering if any of you have had such a problem.

Michael Benz had the same problem. It was the wiper motor assembly. They replaced it for him under warranty and it is working for him now.

Noticed mine had stopped working this morning - last used about a week ago. '04 TL, Navi, AT. 45,900 miles. Classic Acura/United Auto Turnersville is the next stop tomorrow morning.

Wow! WTF Acura? That is a hazard. I'm glad nothing happened to you when your wipers went.

I love how Acura left quality control to the consumers with the TL. Terrible.

Arrow NHTSA - Office of Defects Investigation

For those TL owners that experienced the failed wiper motor, log it with the US NHTSA.

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/pr...aintsearch.cfm

Definitely, the wiper motor should not be going-out on a car that is only 1 or 2 years old. This is a safety issue.

Acura needs to recall or at minimum, a TSB on the wiper motors.

I coudn't agree more. I've not experienced it but seen enough posts about others that have had the problem. Serioulsy, wiper failure while driving in rain is no joke. Log your failures.

I had a similar issue back in February. My Wipers, Seat memory and side mirrors failed... Spitzer Acura found that the fuses were blown and ended up replacing the seat memory unit, the main fuse box and some fuses. There is a SB in the 3G Garage SB-05-033

Hello cullal,

I had the same TSB b05-033 performed on my 05 Navi TL. For those that do not know what is TSB b05-033, the issue is if your windshield washer fluid is frozen and you attempt to use the washer fluid, this can cause the the windshield washer motor to temporarily overload and blow fuse No. 20 in the under-dash fuse/relay box for all 04 and some 05 TL models.

This will effect the power mirrors, the inside auto dimming mirror, the power seat position memory, and the windshield washer do not work. The dealership will replace the 7.5A with 10A fuse. I noticed in the owner's manual for the 06 TL models that fuse No. 20 is 15A.

The new problem people are reporting on this forum are their wiper motors failed and the dealership had to replace the wiper motor.

I had a similar problem in the first year of ownership of my 2004 TL. My dealer replaced the wiper motor, no problem at all. My guess is that there was a problem with Acura's supplier.

The wiper motor is covered under warranty. I've had to replace a few at my dealership already.

Thanks for this tip. My wipers always work but the fluid has not worked since late winter. I guess if the power mirrrors don't work, its definitely just this fuse. Changing a fuse is my kind of DIY!
