Question Windshield Washer Problem

Hi Guys,

So I am having a problem with my windshield washer fluid. At first I thought because it is very cold outside the fluid is freezing which is causing it not to work. However, I couldnt here the pump as I used to be able to when I pulled the stock back. I began to think it had something to do with the fuse being blown. I did a little searching on here and it seems to be a common problem that the wiper fluid pump fuse blowing on TLs however my rear view mirror was working as was my tilt function so I knew it wasnt the fuse. Randomly though when I pull the stock back the fluid comes onto the windshield now.

So I am not sure what the problem could be, has anyone had issues like this? Or direct me in a way I can trouble shoot some more?

Thanks for an insight anyone can provide.

i had same problem, was looking for bad fuses, because i didnt hear pump working. Didint find any bad fuses. I though that fluid frozed, but that was not the problem. Then what i did ,is just press and hold window whasher switch from minute to two minutes and it started to work again, never had same problem.

maybe it just needs a new stalk , because the contacts inside the stalk have gone bad (or the wires have been pinched inside, causing a short and the fuse to blow) just maybe....

i was thinking about that too, but everything else functions properly from the stock such as the windshield wipers so im still skeptical about that

all it takes is one wire to be cut though (which just so happens to be for the washer function)

It works for me, too. At first, I don't believe that. But, I have a same situation as "dzionny" (fuse is OK. I don't hear pump sound). There is nothing to loose and I just tried it. IT WORKS. Thank you.

I followed the suggestions from another post on the same washer fluid problem and replaced the burned 7.5A fuse with a 10A fuse in the fuse slot #20, and it worked.

DEFINITELY do this first!!

Thanks for this old thread, started 15+ years ago and on which the last post was more than 11 years ago.

Had this very same problem--wipers working, but no sound of the washer pump working--on my 3G (2007, UA7) TL.

After reading this thread, went out and started the car. Held the washer stalk back and after 90 seconds, the sprayer/pump started working. Easy as that!

No need to tear apart the right-front wheel well or even to check the in-cabin or under-hood fuses/electrical system. This is by far the EASIEST DIY fix-it I've ever done.

that it solves the problem for good (as reported by others above).

Thx again!
