Windows rubbing/rattling

My front driver and passenger door windows are making a rubbing/rattling sound but if I barely roll the window down it stops. My windows are tinted so my dealer is trying to blame it on the tint. Every car I've owned has been tinted and I have never had this problem.

I've noticed if my window is rolled down half way it will rattle when going over bumps so I don't know if the problem is really the window seal or a rattley window.

Has anyone experienced a rubbing/rattling noise coming from the window seals (tinted or not)?

Any ideas how to fix it?

Thanks

ABSOLUTELY!!

My '05 TL is presently in for state inspection, and when I mentioned the noise from the seals of the driver's door, the canned Acura line is what I received, "we haven't heard of a service bulletin on it".

I then mentioned that the '06 TL that I received as a loaner had the exact same noises. The canned Acura response to that was "enough people haven't complained about it to issue a TSB".

We must ALL start voicing our complaints (IN WRITING) to Corporate, IF we want to be listened to. This website give us the power of numbers. How long would it take everyone to write a short letter to corporate? Let's JUST DO IT!!

I have a problem similar to this, and I also figured that the window seals must have been the source since the noise was coming from the top of the window. But after further inspection, I found the source to be the side mirror, not the window seals or window. It seems as though the rattle/squeaking noise was originating in the side mirror and "echoing" up to the top of the window. This may not be the issue for you, but it's worth taking a look at...

I've had the same problem on my 2005 TL since new. You need to purchase Armour All wipes and wipe down ALL rubber window/door seals on driver's side. It will stay quiet for a couple of weeks (maybe a month), but as it rains or you go through the car wash the Armour All will dry out.

Try to listen for the rattle/rubbing noise when its raining. I doubt you'll hear it. If you do, it won't be as bad as when it's dry outside

Good luck!

I have an identical rattle on the drivers side. It seems that rattles come and go depending on the outside temperatures. In the first months of ownership, I've taken it to the dealer with hopes of getting it fixed, but quickly realized that as soon as you fix one another pops up somewhere else. It's very clear that this is not a quality built car.

We have had rain the last few days and I have noticed that the problem has died down a lot. I'll have to see what happens as it dries out.

That's the exact same experience I have had. I have now had my car in over 10 time within a year trying to get rattles fixed. I've even had the entire drivers door panel replace. Now I'm having this problem.

I have the same problem. The dealer replaced the plastic but it still makes the same noise. The tech that worked on it said that this is a common problem with the TL and there isn't anything he could do about it. The service manager told me to bring the TL back in and they will see what else they could do but I'm not wasting anymore time on this until Acura comes out with a TSB.

Windows rubbing/rattling

My 05 TL is the same way. The dealer has had it twice and the best he could do was spray dry lubricant into the track the window slides into. It messed my windows up and only stopped the problem for about a 1/4 mile. And my windows are not tinted so your dealer is full of it when he says it's tint related.

Dealers will always look for angles to avoid admitting guilt.

I have this same problem!!! Its soooooooooo annoying cause its right next to my left ear!! Its a squeeking/rubbing on the window seal. If i press it down it will squeek/rub so i know for sure its from there. It is constant noise even on smooth pavement but not when the vehicle is at a standstill. I dont know if the passenger side does it because i cant hear it and i never sit in the front passenger seat.

Same problem here. Only happen on my driver side rear window.
I don't have peple in my back often enough, so I keep forgetting. Once a while I get reminder the loud squeaking noise when I roll down the window. I am due for service soon, I'm gonna have to remember to ask my dealer to look at it.

Damn!!!!!!! I thought it was just me with that problem! When i wind the window down jus slightly it goes away. Im usually always listening to some sort of music but when im not it gets really annoying. The latch by the glove compartment is also making weird noises. I love my TL to death but my 95 accord doesnt even do that.

I've got the same problem in my 06 TL, there's some vibration coming from the driver side window.
If you roll down the window the rattle/vibration is gone.

It looks like loud bass also exacerbates the problem, as the bass makes the entire door rattle a bit.

I'm thinking there may be something vibrating related to the window actuator. Probably the arm holding it. I'll need to take down the door panel to check it out.

Anyone have a link to a "How to" on removing the door panel?

My dealer ordered a part (some kind of motor) which they will replace on my squeaking window/door. I have not take my car back to get that replace yet.

I have the same promblem, taking it to the dealer this week. Will let you know what happens. I might try to put some screen door trim in it like I did my 92 Maxima way back in the day.

a better solution than armor all wipes is a product called "gummi pfledge" that can be ordered and then wipes onto the door's rubber seals. I have to redo this only about once a year as aopposed to every 2 weeks with armor all.

Here is a link with pictures of this BMW rubber restore product.

http://www.z3bimmer.com/OffTopic/E24Bimmer/Gummi/

Apparently Z3 owners have to use it or they eventually get a rain induced puddle in their laps...and we are complaining about squeaks!

Gummi-Pflege (82 149 407 015) - which translates roughly to "rubber maintenance"

I had the same problem with the rattle or rubbing noise on the drivers door window. I thought it was the window, but founf out that it was the drivers door rear view mirror. It was coming from where the plastic casing from the rear view mirror meets the metal door frame. So what I did was put some felt where the plastic meets the metal frame and the noise is gone.

Hope this helps

I too am tired of the window rattle. Who at Acura Headquarters is in charge of Maintenance issues.

I think it will have more juce if I address it to an individual.

My dealer acknowleges this is a common problem. Their fix is to wipe on a dry silicone-based lubricant. The last time I was there, the tech gave me a can of it so I can do it myself. It works, but it's not a true fix.

Window rubbing/rattling

this precisely describes one of the rattles that i have been dealing with. if the driver side windown is all the way up, i hear what sounds like two ballons rubbing against each other. if i roll the window down, just a little bit, then it stops. however, hitting a bump in the road or the wind blowing against the window will cause the window to produce an entirely different rattle. the car only has 11k miles on it but i noticed it the first week that i owned the car and it has been in the shop for this noise (and others) five times now... and still not resolved.

I finally took my car in for service to fix the window rattle, glovebox rattle and the clicking from the front wheels when i pull off or stop. They gave me an 06 TL to drive in the meantime.

I've had this problem since about March of 2004 (two months after ownership). I have to spray silicone lubricant on the seals every once in a while (about monthly) in order to resolve this problem. It's good practice to put some lubricant on the seals anyway (prevents cracking) but it is a royal pain.
