Window Trim Fading

On the outside of the car where the bottom of the window is there is a black trim that goes along the bottom of the window. Well, it's fading...... How can I fix it??? Has anyone else had this problem?

I have read another form but no one did a DIY or anything like that.

Any ideas?

I have this too, it really looks awful, not only is it fading but there are these wear marks that look like they could turn into cracks over time. I intend to find out because I plan to keep this car until the wheels fall off lol

The pictures are not displaying, so I am uncertain just which trim to which you refer, ... but ...

1) if the trim is rubber, treat with ArmorAll or one of the many *black* treatments. I like Mother's Back-to-Black, but there must be 20 others in any auto part store

2) if the trim is textured plastic, treat as above, but if the trim is smooth plastic use Meguiars #21 synthetic paint sealant applied a couple of time to remove the gray oxidation

ArmorAll Original is basically a water-based silicone emulsion. Products such as the BACK-TO-BLACK are basically wax products with black dye, which means that they will sometimes wash off and run down the side of the car when it rains.

Which is why I prefer ArmorAll on rubber & textured plastic, and Meguiars #21 on smooth plastic. M21 will bond to plastic and will not wash off or run. M21 will not harm textured plastic, but it will not easily wipe off and will look *flat*.

Anyway, with dozens of products in the auto-parts stores, I am surprised by this question.

If its the piece under the windshield then Black Wow is the one to go with .. the others only last a wash or 2 and they are gone.
