Window Tints

Anyone have an issue getting their 08' TL tinted? I have tints all around (pretty good ones) but they are all scratched vertically in straight lines on each window. The tint shop tells me it's something with the car and that one side of the window doesn't have felt or something? I feel that it's a tint issue rather than a car - but I'm worried that if I get the windows re-tinted somewhere else, this will happen again...Any input?

You (or the shop) need to install moleskin on top of the rubber on the door panel. Won't scratch again. Make sure you get a quality tint as well. I have Huper Optik tint but I've heard good things about Pinnacle. The main thing to keep in mind is that it's tint, not tints.

It's true and if you had a knowledgeable and reputable tint installer they would have told you about it before they did your installation.

Now you can either live with it or get done again .... the right way.

What should I expect as a reasonable price for the installation of the "moleskin" and a new TINT ()? I figure $150 is a good price for tint, but as for moleskin, i have no clue..

I think $150 is a good price, but I would double check the brand. Make sure they take off the third brake light cover and can tint behind the seal on the quarter glass. I paid $400 and did my own moleskin. I was absolutely thrilled about the price because nobody else in 300 miles had quality tint or could do it exactly right.

I have seen TLs tinted without the quarter glass done right and while it probably looks just fine to most people, once you see it right you'll be kicking yourself.

Moleskin/felt no more than $20 per door, and some will say that's too much.
