Wind noise with sunroof open

as the title says, there seems to be excessive noise when I have my sunroof slide all the way back. In other cars this never seemed to be an issue.

Just wondering if any one else has noticed this and what they may have done to over come it.

I was thinking of a sunroof visor but I dont really like the look so I would want to know it definitely fixed the problem before I added on.

btw I have a 07 TL type-s

make sure that the little deflector that pops up once you slide the roof back is not sticking down or stuck in the closed position!

Even with that plastic deflector, in my case I have always still have the wind noise, plan to put a moonroof visor to prevent that. and not sure what other cars the OP is mentioning about windnoise not being heard on other cars.

my moms 2003 suv, has a moonroof and it still get wind noise, same goes for my cuzins 03 BMW 330i coupe. And my little integra.

Isnt it just a characteristic of having the sunroof/moonroof open?

i would say the sound is normal. i'm pretty sure the reason they make sunroof visors is to reduce wind noise while the sunroof is open.

you said you don't like the looks of it, but that's really the only option to reduce wind noise.

i have the oem sunroof visor and i can say while traveling 60mph with the sunroof open, the cabin is still pretty quiet. before having the sunroof visor you would have to yell to the passenger just to be able to talk.

I get this weird vacuum feeling with my sunroof all the way open so I just close it a little or open some of the windows.

I have no problem with the noise though.

Visor definetly helps. Been using one since 1 week after I bought the car back in 2003. Without it, lots of wind noise. After it was installed, much quieter.

Nothing abnormal about the sound. Compared to some other cars I've been in...it's quiet.

My TL sunroof noise at highway speeds is way higher than my tC or my Z24 was. Or maybe it is just that the TL is so darn quiet when it is closed it seems so loud when open.

My older TL was super quiet with the roof open. The roof on the first gems were a lot flatter, where the theirs gen have a little bit of a domed shape. Air must pass over it differently.

my other car is a 2000 civic, I can have the sunroof open and be on the highway and the noise is minimal. Meaning open or closed I dont need to adjust the volume on my stereo.
In the TL this is not the case,

In the TL this is not the case,
i think it has to do with the size of the car or the aerodynamics of the way the car was designed.

either way man you can compare it to any other car you have driven with the sunroof open. some may be quieter than others, some may be louder.

fact is, in the 3rd gen tl it's normal to have wind noise with the sunroof open. there's nothing that you can do to fix it without spending money for a roof visor.

Just lower the 2 back seat windows about an inch, it makes a huge difference
