Question WHY DOES MY BATTERY DIE after two weeks w/o driving the car?

HI, why does the battery on my 2005 TL die when i leave the car sitting for two weeks. its the second time its happened, the first time i thought it was the battery because its was old, so i went and bought a new one and started the car for about five minutes and left it sitting there for another two weeks when i went on vacation. i checked all the lights everywhere (trunk, visors etc) make sure they were off. and it did it again. i checked altenator and its good. what can it possibly be?

The stock battery can't hold a charge to save its life. I have the same problem after leaving the car for only 3 days. And I'm on my second battery. If you're in warranty, take it in and have them replace it. If not, go get yourself a real battery...

had the same problem. just get a float charger, or "Battery Tender" which is sold at pepboys for $30. keeps the battery at a constant 13V. tested with a voltmeter

Same problem here ... Acura batteries are JUNK! Mine was replaced in August by Acura. I had my TL parked for 2 weeks during the recent snow storms in WA ... went to drive it on Sunday and dead as Elvis! Time to shop for a real battery

If your has navigation, have them perform this. It's being done for our 05 for the same problem (on an Interstate battery) out of warranty. It's a pseudo recall if your vin falls in the range.

the TL draws a bit of electric with the car turned off. It draws somewhere around 40 milliamps.

For those that don't know, I have a tiny racing battery in my '06. I would need to trinkle-charge it if I was not driving it for several days. Recently, I removed (permanently) the Hands-Free module that connects your cell phone. I had read here on the forum that this thing caused the primary parastic drag on the battery. IT'S TRUE. Since I remove that Hands-Free module during my Sunroof Delete (TL Diet), my little racing battery loses ZERO charge, even after sitting five days without being started. I no longer trinkle charge my tiny battery.

No really!!! I know its cold and everything but seriously!?! I didn't drive for 1 day and the battery died. They just replaced the battery under warranty in August. This is completely unacceptable. Now I have to go buy a "real" battery just so I don't have to go through the hassle of warranty exchange. This car cost too much for me to have to go through this kind of garbage.

My friend had the same problem on his '06 TL. His battery died after a 1 week period where he didnt use the car. My sugestion is to pull one fuse at a time from the fuel panel until the ammeter reading drops. You will be able to find out what circuit is draining your battery so quickly. Then check the wiring and components in that circuit to figure out the problem. Good Luck

Same thing happened to me......bought my 07 TL in Jan 2007, the OEM battery failed in May 2008, the replacement failed yesterday. Took a trip with my MDX, so the TL was garaged for 5 days. Acura batteries are POS. If your in warranty, let them pay for it, if you're out, buy an Interstate or a MAXX at Walmart.

Well...the OP did say he replaced the battery and still have the problem. That happened to me so when I replaced my battery, it worked fine. Even when the car sat for 2+ weeks at a time.
So I don't think it's the battery if it was replaced.

Something is draining the battery quicker then it should. Should have it checked by Acura?

I have heard from the dealer that TL's have a .500 milliamp discharge not .040
