Where is the outside thermometer/temperature sensor located?

Ive been having a problem, its happened twice now.
On my screen that shows mileage and oil life, the temperature reads as --- degrees F.

After starting the car again, it functions normally and displays the temperature.

I just wanted to know where the thermometer or temperature sensor is located so I can see if it's loose or something.
This will save me the trouble of having to take it make to the dealer and having them keep it overnight while denying me a loner car because im not 21....

check your owner book to be sure- on my gen2 its directly below the hood latch assembly- in front of the radiator- attached with a clip
What does the owner book say about the setup screen and adjusting the temp reading- maybe thats the prob?

Our temp meter only goes to 113 degrees and then in shows ---
it is attached to back of the front bumper. just to the drivers side of the middle of the car.

The weird thing is that my car was broken into last week and the vent window on my driver side rear window was smashed. After having the glass replaced, the temp reads "-----". It seems far too coincidental, but how could these two be related?

It's 115 and I'm going through a similar issue.. temp sensor is off by 10-25F.. This isn't a new issue but I forgot what the solution was..

Nice! But I don't know that I'd EVER be able to know the EXACT outside temperature...

You don't have to. When I calibrated mine, all I did was hang an accurate thermometer right next to the sensor and let it stay that way all night in my garage. The next morning I set my display to what the thermometer read and that was it. Works like a charm.

If you do not reset this and you let your car sit for 5+ days, expect to have a dead battery. I know.. it happened to me seven weeks after I bought my '04 manual. You can remove the number 7 fuse (either 7 or 21 - not certain about which one but a search will turn it up) or remove the positive battery cable for around 15 seconds.

It appears that the ECU gets into an infinite error loop when this happens and continues drawing power from your battery.
