Whenever I try to start my car in the morning when it is cold, it feels like the car is not getting any fuel so it sits there and just cranks until i step on the gas to give it some fuel in order for it to start.
This does not happen when it is warm.

any suggestions about what may be the problem?

i doubt its the gas, more likely its the battery, battery is definitely affected by the cold.

When cranking, pumping the gas pedal on a EFI vehicle does nothing to change the fuel delivery.
As stated above, start with a battery check.

If the battery is cranking over the engine quickly, it's not a bad battery. This sounds like a fuel system issue.

There are a number of things--are you getting any codes? Is the car running fine once started? A bad electronic sensor could hinder the startup mode that enriches the fuel for starting. More information needed

A better description or maybe a video might help folks give you better answers. Mashing the throttle while starting isn't going to make a difference. When my OEM batt was on its way out, my car cranked a while when cold before it started.

it only happens when it is cold, whenever it is warm or cool, it starts up just fine and the car runs fine when it is on. maybe i will have the battery checked out and test a new one in it
