I assume you already tried tightening your fuel cap.
The repair procedure is painfully simple. You only need a socket wrench with one socket and a pair of pliers for the hose clamps. I suggest calling your service adviser and seeing if they can goodwill the part, or some portion of the cost of the part. Otherwise, $90 bucks isn't that expensive of a repair.

It went away later in the same day that it came up... but I called my service advisor and told him about it, so Im going to see what they will do about it for me at the dealer. I didnt think it was a big expensive thing, but I just dont like to have a lot of things looming that need to be done...

Haha did you really call the dealer because of a gas cap!? I'm surprised they didn't tell you you need new transmission!!
Bro do you not have an owner's manual? It says if you don't tighten the cap all the way and the light comes on you have to tighten it, then turn the car off. Upon turning the car on, if it doesn't go away right away it will go away after you go above a certain speed or drive for a certain amount of time. I can't remember EXACTLY what it says but just pop open that pretty leather binder and pull out your manual.

IIRC - the car has to go through several ingnition cycles to clear the warning after the problem has been resolved. I believe there are other threads here on AZ on this issue.
Yeah I'm sure there are other threads on this issue. Whenever I see one, I (and others) point out the TSB and then those threads go away. Weird how that works.
Am I the only one who thinks that $90 is not a big expensive thing for a car? Don't worry about it bro, it's extremely easy to change. And driving around on it until you can save the cash isn't going to cause you a major issue.
By the way, the problem is intermittent meaning that it comes and goes randomly. But the fault is still there even if the gas cap message does not come up.

If the seatbelt warning goes off are you going to tell him to replace the whole seatbelt since it's an easy fix?
I understand it COULD be a more severe problem but why go with the most expensive fix first?
So you're recommending that OP spends $90 replacing a part just because he didn't tighten his gas cap all the way? Haha why do you think they build in these warnings for us and then write a manual about it?

A assumed maybe the warning came on and he tightened the cap and didn't turn the car off an on. Then he went home and posed the question to us without driving his vehicle again.
According to the manual, "the message should go off after tightening the fuel cap, turning the ignition switch off an on, then driving over 30MPH for at least 45 seconds. Due to different driving conditions, it may take a few drive trips to make the message go away".
No biggie, just don't want OP going to the dealer and having them rip him off over something so small.
