What moving part is...

linked to the brakes right aft of the auto shifter box?

I am noticing a light knocking sound (or tapping sound, like metal to plastic) right aft of the shifter box for my 08 type-S. There are two ways to trigger it.

1. Parked, e-brake pulled. Excercise the brakes. You'll hear it when you press it, and when you release it. It seem to trigger at the exact same moment of the brake lights.

2. Coming to a stop, e-brake down. You hear right before the car comes to a complete stop, and when the car start to move (not the moment you release the brakes).

Both are very easy to replicate.

I first thought that my e-brake cable is lose (it works fine btw), but then I realized that it is not as far back as where the adjuster is. Plus, it happens both when the e-brake is up or down.

It's like some kind of sensor, but is lose?

Anyone have any ideas?

1) shift interlock so you can move the shifter out of park
2) park interlock switch shifting in and out

Oh yeah that's right, thanks!

Should I be concerned about hearing it?

Which one is it, is it #2?

Parts 2 & 7. Sounds like they are working properly.

I listened again more closely. It sounds like they are knocking the cupholder or the plastic surrounding the shifter, which makes the sound louder. Probably nothing of concern but I find it quite odd.

I wouldn't worry about it pretty sure this is normal operation. My TL has done this since I got it. At first it surprised me a little lol.
