Weird, inconsistent engine Tick/rattle
Weird, inconsistent engine Tick/rattle
Hi
My 2005 TL, 150,000 miles, has slowly developed a noticeable ticking noise. It is borderline a knock. It seems to start about 30 seconds after start-up, and then comes and goes randomly. It appears to be coming from the rear cylinders, 1 or 2.
It is not the famous timing belt tensioner, which I have changed, and checked again. (lots of FUN!!)
Valve clearances are all good.
No codes are on the DTC.
Oil changes are done consistently. Performance has not been affected as of yet.
It seems that part of the valve body/rockers are not being lubricated properly and something is sticking or loose.
Help please

So after another attempt at checking the rear valve bank, and clearances, I put it back together and slowly, and the noise has went away.
All I did is wiggle the rocker arms and springs around a bit, and it seems to have gone away. I wont celebrate until I get a thousand miles of quiet running, but for now, I am happy.
will post regular updates on this one.
