Warning to 04 TL Owners
Warning to 04 TL Owners
I hate to resurrect an old thread, but I have uncovered some more info on the suspension failure that I suffered in January 2008 (see thread https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=172272)
I registered the problem on the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration's website. I found 2 other 04 TL's that had identical failures on the NHTSA website. How many other failures have occured and not been reported?
If you have an '04 TL with 60K miles or more, I strongly urge you to get your suspension components looked at. In my case it was the part of the suspension that held the right front ball joint. The ball joint did not fail, the suspension part that holds the ball joint failed. The other 2 incidents on the NHTSA site sounded very similar.
Does anybody know of a way to compel Acura to reveal how many of these failures they have recorded short of a class action lawsuit?

i just read your previous thread. Well first off if you want acura to pay for something you call customer relations before you agree to pay for anything. They prob would of covered the repair if you chased that while it was at the shop. I have seen all sorts of crazy stuff done under goodwill warranty
They are really good about paying for this kind of stuff. And yes as long as the wheels have the same offset and size it will not affect the ball joints. When you change your offset it puts stress onto balljoints they are not used to and can cause them to break.
Your insurance should of covered this under your comprehensive I have seen lots of times where ball joints break covered under insurance
