After having the transmission replace on our acura TL, 2004, we randomly get the following symptoms:

VSA Light ON
! Triangle ON
RPM/MPH gauges go to zero and back, almost like they loose power
A/C stops blowing cold air

Most of the time, if the VSA/! Triangle/RPM-MPH happen to go weird, the A/C continues to work. But, if the VSA/!Triangle come on alone, without the RPM-MPH, then the A/C stops blowing cold air.

The temporary fix each time is to turn off the car and turn it back on. After the car restart, it may happen a second time, but never more than a total of 2 times.

This also happened on an 8hr trip and after restarting the car 2 different times, during the first 2hrs of trip, the problem never happened again while on that trip.

So far, no check engine lights have come on, only the lights mentioned.

Any help?? or should i just dump this car???

 

UPDATE:

The VSA/!triangle came on while the car was sitting in the driveway with A/C on for about 20 minutes.. so, the car does not have to be moving. It was thought that maybe there was a short, but in this case, the car was sitting idle in driveway.

 

does your car not want to accelerate when these warning lights come on?
the vtech solenoid might be staying open dropping the oil pressure IIRC

 

The car functions perfectly when these lights come on. It seems like when the outside temp has been hotter, the light comes on more often. While driving, if i turn the car off and then on, the vsa doesn't come on for a good while later.

The lights have come on while driving it for 3 minutes, 13 minutes or even 20 minutes.

 

I've got similar symptoms, but with the check engine light AND the auto trans getting stuck in 3rd or 4th gear. I just had my transmission replaced, too.

 

roof2006, have you gone to the dealer? HAve you figured anything out? This is crazy, it's almost as if you can't change anything in this car!!

 

Not yet. It just started acting up again. We had replaced the throttle body with an "'05-08" model to no effect. We replaced it again with the correct '04 model - but the problem hasn't disappeared. I may have to break down and head to the dealer; which is unfortunate. Dealers out here charge 3 times what my mechanic does for labor, and they mark up parts 10X. (They really add a zero.)
