Vibration/harshness during normal acceleration with 5at. Opinions please.
I have a 2007 TL automatic that I recently purchased about a week ago. It is VERY clean inside and out has about 29,000 miles on it. I have noticed that during acceleration at right around 2,000rpm you can feel a harshness/vibration which goes away above and below 2,000rpm. It does it in all gears, hot/cold doesnt matter. Its not a tire vibration and it does not do it while revving only while driving (also for reference its not a engine stutter or misfire either it feels more driveline or tranny related). I have driven a couple other TL's including a brand new one and I cant recall if they did this. Anyone else experience this and if so any idea what it is? Thinking about heading to the dealer sometime soon.
Thanks,
James

I wish I would have paid more attention when I drove the new 08 last week to see if I felt any vibrations but I didnt even think of it.

The TSB is applicable to 04 model years only. I took my 05 in for service and brought the TSB with me. The dealer said that the slight vibration/noise is a characteristic of the torque converter, and that the damper was installed on AT's from 05+ to help reduce the vibration/noise. They also said my fluid level was good, and color was good. The next nearest dealer is over 30 miles away, so I am not sure if it is even worth trying to ask them for a second opinion. They did fix my subwoofer rattle, so at least my visit wasn't a total waste of time...lol

It is the engine lugging at low rpms. I like it when mine does it. I can really feel it with my Black 75A solid motor mounts and racing seats bolted straight into the car body.
To my way of thinking, the car was designed to operate in two modes:
One mode is a non-economy hauling butt mode = automatically dropping a gear or two, bring the R's up into the powerband, and mpg "be damn".
The other mode is Economy mode = grab the highest gear possible to bring the R's down to 1500 rpm, try to engage converter lockup, lugging the engine to get the best mpg.
The engine, like most, is rough when lugged at low rpm.
