Urgent! Help!

Hey acurazine,

I just went to check my oil level and I tugged on the dipstick too hard and this resulted in the dipstick tip snapping off (the indicator where it tells you the level), so now that whole flat panel is stick within the engine. All I have now is the stick with no indicator head. Will this cause my engine to mess up????
I'm afraid now and I'm not sure what to do???
I couldn't find past posts on this so I'm guessing I'm like the first to do this. Please help!!

So your saying that the tip of you dip stick is in the oil? If that is the case whatever you do DO NOT start the engine. I would drain the oil and see if it comes out and if not pull down the oil pan and you should be able to get it that way.

Jake...it's not gonna get sucked into anything or travel a foot up into the actual combustion chamber.

You're fine, you'll just never be able to check your levels. I'd leave it in there and just put the top part back on.

Or remove the valve cover and see if you can grab it with some pliers.

^^^^^Yeah, I'm no expert on oil flow, but I think that is correct. Just buy a new dipstick and enjoy life

But I'm dying to know how the end got sheared off....

You could drain the oil and try to fish the end out by sticking a magnetic probe in the drain plug hole... It's just sitting somewhere on the bottom of the oil pan...

If you get a drain plug that is magnetic (made for BMWs and I imagine for Honda/Acura also) then the tip should stick to the drain plug at some point and then you can remove it.

I still feel like that end of the tip isn't the one that could have broken off. Dong is strong, but c'mon...that doesn't even make sense.

Y'all slay the shit out of me 😂😂😂
Basically my car was in the garage and so I had to stand on the driver side to pull the dipstick. Since I pulled it from the side, it initially didn't come out, so I had to pull it hard and then it came out with the tip broken off.....
Yeah call me an idiot I know....

Mechanic says it'll be 20-70$ depending on how long it takes to get it out. Should I just suggest to wait it out or take it out ASAP?

Ah, the ol' sideways pull out? Not recommended, as you now can see

Heck, for $70, I'd be tempted just to let someone else do the dirty work. Is he going to drain the oil?

I would try sticking one of those telescoping magnets down in e dipstick hole and see if by chance you can snag it. They are like an antenna so pretty thin and should fit down the hole

I was beginning to wonder how long it would take for somebody to make this observation.

I think he's saying he broke the tip off aka the last two inches or so

I wish I had 2 inches to break off. But naw...that would only leave me with 1.

Yeah, the dong is not magnetic. Good catch. If any of the wire shaft was left inside the dong, it will be magnetic on that end. Otherwise, you're SOL with a magnet...
