Type-S car, RL motor?

Hello Everybody,
Long time lurker, first time posting. So my 2007 Type-S broke the timing belt on the interstate. Im assuming by what my mechanic told me that its just going to be cheaper to swap in a used motor since he is assuming that my valves are going to be bent and doesnt want to tear into it without a big deposit. I've been trying to source a type s j35a8 online and they are running super expensive. I noticed the RL j35a8's are a lot cheaper and was wondering if I am able to swap in that motor? My intake manifold also sheared off with a backfire so I would need to use the RL intake manifold but all other accessories could be swapped over if needed. Can you guys tell me if this is possible to put an RL 3.5 in a TL type S? My car is an automatic. I searched and I found the following post but I would still like more confirmation on this before making a purchase, thank you. If possible if you can also tell me which year RL motors fit.

Just curious...how many miles on your car? Did you do the timing belt service?

Awesome. That thread was exactly what I needed to hear!

Yes the timing belt kit, valve adjustment, etc were all done at 90k. The car currently has almost 135k. I called the original company that did the tbelt back in 2014 and they stated they only have a 1 year/12k mile warranty on their work.

I was going almost 80 mph on the interstate when the belt shredded so I can only assume the worst. I found a 56k mile rl motor on ebay for cheap so im just going to go that route. It is a 2009, is that still compatible? What year RL motors can I use? Thank you for your help. If I knew how to load pics id show you the disaster.

I don't believe 09 is compatible. Use 2005-2008. Someone please chime in if I'm incorrect.

05-08 RL engine, in 2009 the RL went to J37 instead of J35.
